People always look at relationships like they have to find someone that’s 100% match for them. That’s not real life, it takes real communication to be able to actually compromise and grow together. You keep looking for what’s perfect in your mind you’ll be single forever because you got your nose all in the air like you’re so perfect

I love this topic! I had my first kid at 20. I’m 40 now and my oldest is going to be 20 in a couple of weeks. It’s definitely a different dynamic than most parent kid relationships cause we listen to a lot of the same music and often get mistaken for sisters. I married her dad when she was 3 and we’ve been happily together for 23 years now. It wasn’t easy. But we’re very much still in love with each other.

My parents really took their time with their family. My oldest siblings being 8-9 years older than me having them at 20-21, I come along in their early 30s, and then my younger siblings 8-9 years later in their 40s and I see such a shift in childrearing in each group of us lol. I mean… we’re all fucked up in some way which makes me not want kids at all (and that’s okay) but it’s been eye-opening to see that shift as they’ve become more financially established with age, less strict in some ways or more strict in others.

As someone who had a child at 18 yrs old; which wasn't a planned pregnancy; I will say somewhat it depends on the person's maturity level and the person's ability to see the realities of what taking care of and being responsible for the care of a child takes. It saw me growing up fast in taking responsibility for the care of my child and all that entails. My kid's father was a few years older than me, and he bailed by the time my kid turned a year old, not wanting to take responsibility for the child we created together. His loss though. My kid is a true blessing. And one day while I was out on a walk with my kid, I had a teenage girl say to me, "oh, your baby is so cute. I want one." And I said, "no, you don't". I said this for two reasons. First off, the girl who said that to me had just asked someone else to buy her cigarettes because she was under age so she couldn't legally buy them for herself. And secondly, because though yes, my kid was cute sitting all happy in his stroller, yet that is only part of how babies can be. Basically, I was told by one of my sister's friends who also had kids, that "you don't know the true test of being a parent till your kid pukes on you and you still have to cuddle and console them." And lord that sure proved to be true.
@joeswanson7335 ай бұрын
it's tricky but ... as long as you can afford it and the kids can live a reasonably supportive comfortable upbringing that faciliates their development. if you have kids usually on the younger end but you're struggling and they're struggling you're both just in a world of hurt. no good. but for the average person it's taking longer to get established. these days just to get your sh-t together by 30 also by the numbers is already taking a lot of of planning and maneuvering to do it that's assuming everything goes according to plan right education right career track, you find someone at the right time you're both on the same track and financial wise you're both able to do good etc etc etc.

That said i really dont think that i could have been a father with how my head was and what i was doing with my life. I spent too many years depressed for dumb or no reasons so now when i have legitimate reasons to not want to live any longer it just makes things seem worse and the regrets even harder to push out..
