Jericho talks about this in his book and makes it seem like Trips 'buried' him, but he clearly said "Chris will get it. It's there". Not sure why he was offended by him saying he was just a notch below the top tier, which was actually true. Trips, Taker, Rock, Austin at the time = top tier. Jericho was always entertaining, but not on that level of stardom.

I think the issue Jericho had was HHH saying this a few days before their WM18 match. Saying Jericho isn't there in terms of being top-tier isn't the best way to make an opponent and world champ look like a threat.

Jericho didn't need Austin or rock to put him over to be established. Everybody knew since his excellent WCW run he was a star in the making. HHH had to deal with Austin going over him, Rock going over him, Foley going over him...he wanted to keep a pecking order and unfortunately for Jericho it meant no seal of approval at a time we needed something different.

To add to "MrHallofFameHBK1" wrestlers make millions of $ a year, more than college graduate lawyers because wrestlers are entertainers/performers.They sell an experience to the audience/crowd that IS the product.A wrestling match and a wrestler portraying their character is the marketing and promoting of their character to fans so that fans can relate to that character and be persuaded to buy merchandise. Without the sale of merchandise the WWE would only make money by selling tickets and PPV.

It doesn't cost a lot of money to watch wrestling or go to a live show. They get paid what they get paid because the risk of them getting injured and not being able to work anymore is very high. They need that money to be able to support themselves and their families for the rest of their lives in case they can't wrestle anymore. Lawyers overcharge for everything they do. But to watch wrestling, the cost is minuscule in comparison.

A lot of wrestlers don't actually get paid as much as you think...e.g mid carders aren't on millions or even half of that, and the money they do gets taxed and they will be spending their money on the same things we do like tax, insurance and all that other bullshit but they also spend loads on hotels rental cars and things like that so they end up about £30,000 a year... So when you see what they do to their body's day in day out the money they get is stupid. Said so by wwe talent
