Echo that! Also like to see the usual Mark & Sam top shelf load development and then compare that with...(brace yourselves) with standard equivilent factory ammunition & factory match grade ammunition. I'm guessing the M&S developed loads would streak ahead but for those going budget route, they might go budget/standard factory ammunition...then creep to match grade & then creep again to reloading and testing loads. Its a matter of getting the best we can afford until we can creep up to the next level. Most of us start with Black & Gold scopes & regret it or make do until we creep into the next level. Love watching these project rifles and seeing how far Mark & Sam can push it's limits

Mark, I’m always impressed by your logic and commitment to consistency. I’ve noticed your rigs always seem to be the same, different calibers, but basically all the same components. I understand your thinking towards that end and your results speak for themselves. I see a number of people on my range who own a couple of very nice precision rifles but every rifle is set up differently. The problem with this is that they have to “learn” many shooting positions because of their rig variations. So much time, effort, and money spent to then have to fight their own muscle memory. Anyways, I appreciate your comment about your ability to interchange parts so that your connection with the rifle remains the same; that matters more than many realize! Great video, as always! Take care and stay well! Cheers!

I agree with you about the Howa barrelled actions. I built my own 6.5 Creedmoor using one in a MDT chassis and butstock. It shoots very well. This very video is what got me thinking about a 6mm Creedmoor build. I gave up on waiting for the Howa heavy barrelled action to come back in stock (can only be obtained through Brownell's here in the states) so I ordered the Aero Precision 6mm Creedmoor they offer with the heavy stainless steel barrel, sitting in the KRG Bravo stock. The timing was good as that bag rider came in the other day and I was very delighted to bolt something on made by you and Sam. Looking forward to that base when it arrives 😊

Ive got the weatherby vanguard. 308 in a oryx chassis with a vortex venom 5x25x56 scope on it and it is a excellent rifle, hitting 500 yard targets no problem and would probably go 800 if i wanted to. Oversized MDT bolt knob and a 10 round magazine. All up ive spent approximately $2000,00 and its as good as some $4000,00 rifles i see at the range.

Thank you Mark for passing years long of experience to us. I’m a “senior” myself but truly appreciate these videos. Never too old to learn. A simple question, what do you think of the Tikkas? I have really come to enjoy the T3. The smoothness of the bolt, adjustable trigger, accuracy out of the box, and the bedding they use has been good for me.

Re: Sightron, nice scopes but the Australian agent (Herron) don’t support warranty or repairs and have zero customer support. I have a 10-50X60 S111 that had an erector tube failure. The service from the importer is so poor that even after good correspondence with Sightron USA the only way I am able to effect a repair is to post the scope to the New Zealand agent (at my cost) who the forwards the scope to the US for repair. Due to US law a private individual cannot send a scope direct to the US, it has to go through an agent, the Australian agent will not do anything for the customer, you’re on your own. My advice is to buy Leupold, the service provided by NIOA is second to none and repairs are carried out in Australia (mine at no cost for a 30 year old scope). Sightron are a nice scope but be prepared to bin a 2K scope if it fails or go via a dealer in another country, unfortunately typical of too many Australian businesses.

I often watch your shooting & find I put the mouse cursor point on the top of your muzzle brake to see how muchmuzzle flip there is (or rather isn't) & more often than not get to see the barrel stay pretty close to that bore axis line and watch the recoil go straigh back in a fairly straight line. Some calibres straight than others but it's very cool to watch that. Great work...maybe there's no such thing as accuracy... its really just trying to get far more precise consistency Winning

I think with what can buy now I would not consider buying a Surgeon Scalpel again.

The scope is a mile above the gun, and it has to because of that stock. I'd prefer to have a system that puts the scope as close as possible to the barrel. I'm from the old school of my Marines and would rather not do that. Semper Fi.

First, let us apologize if you censor us as "political" becouse we're not. Our honest intent is to share critical thought in evaluation of a brand with systemic customer service issues. We really like the Howa action, but unfortunately Howa has been less than disingenuous with inventory and communication. Our loosely formed 'competition' group came together in effort to find the elusive barrel action by contacting Howa USA directly when our local 'Brownells' source dried up completely. In particular the Howa 1500 heavy barrel action in any caliber was MIA in USA market for over 2 years with no help offered from Howa post pandemic. We made contact with Howa's territory manager several times who insisted inventory was 'out there' but couldn't or wouldn't provide adequate customer service to find a resource for accomodation. Our community counts on our 'precision builds' in competition and for reliable hunting. As ELR enthusiasts we can't recommend the Howa brand to our precision build friends as result of thier systemic customer service problems. Your experience may differ, but quality customer service is a significant part in precision 'actions' and off-the-rack builds loyal to their brands. When those brands snub and ignore community with lack of customer service, it becomes a deal breaker. Just our opinion ... but Howa made a poor corporate decision to abandon it's loyal 'precision' customer base.

Great video Mark & Sam. Our community watches with enthusiasm. We love the adjustable bag riders and use them in many competitions.

Well, that is sad to hear, from my end I have no links to HOWA or the Australian Distributor, but apart for limited supply of everything and that includes al makes of rifles, I have seen good service over here, but that is just me. But a couple of points to yours, Firstly you are talking about your distributor (USA) not HOWA Japan, Secondly, yes I have seen many poor decisions made over very troubling times caused through the pandemic, in many industries, I would suggest to let the dust settle, not saying they didn't do the wrong thing then, but as just a consumer, dealing with just the sales and service side of things gives little to no idea of what else is happening, ie don't throw the baby out with the bath water, many years of good service has stood them well before, so a decent chance they will return to that, but fully understand you position, Cheers

My experience with Howa (Legacy) customer service has been very positive. Having just checked Brownell's available stock of Howa barreled actions, I stopped counting after 8 different configurations. I have 3 Howa 1500 rifles and really think they extremely good.

I have no customer service experience but I have worked on a couple Howas. They are made very well. Good materials and features. Simple and effective.

I bought a Howa 1500 in 308 I will never own another mIne must have been made on Monday. CBTO 2.304 to jam that puts COL to jam at 2.920 With factory ammo this is about a two-inch at 100 yards it shoots pretty good with the projectile about 10 thousands off the lands which makes the magazine useless.

So good barreled action for well with set up target rounds, but not suited for stock and magazine, I would generally say the HOWA distributor furniture options are less than awesome also, so yes I hear you, and as said, I only use there barreled actions, and in fact, generally only single feed too, lol, Cheers
