Great talk. From the position of a irregular shooter i agree that load development of rimfire calibre a sled can be great to see the best ammo for the rifle and then shoot from the position you intend to use it and iron out the variables in the shooter.

In the late 1970s while serving in the Irish Army reserve I was issued with a brand new Lee Enfield 303 rifle, I assume they were bought by the thousand for very little money at the end of WWII. Accurate rifle, strong recoil, if not held tight to the shoulder there's a bruise there next day. A few years later the outdated 303 was replaced by the FN assault rifle that could be fired on auto single handed. Wonder if the Irish Army still has thousands of new 303s wrapped in oil paper and stored in timber crates packed ceiling-high at the back of the magazine?

Mark do you think that Gibbs has a better pattern,in it, or is it at its limit for accuracy?
@markandsamafterwork21 сағат бұрын
Second every set of shots Man, so.. FYI I don't consider 1 moa to 1.5 moa at over 2.5 km's less than extremely accurate, Cheers

Just saw this, and actually really appreciated it. I was actually far too busy to read too much into this stuff when it came through because of, as you said I had lot of things going on & a lot of normal holiday stress but I had seen posts from people saying that apparently the cops are saying a lot of firearms we weren't expecting to be banned are being banned. I'm keen to start getting active with this now. I want to start a paying a membership to someone who will be effective in fighting this - I've been meaning to do that for years but now I'm definitely committed. You mentioned the Shooters Union & another one or two organisations. Which would you recommend as giving the best 'bang for my buck' so to speak? I'm also thinking up to signing up for a paid membership to a political party who will actually fight back against this. Obviously the Libs are outright backing these laws. The Nats have said that they're against them but they need the Libs to govern so I expect they'll be forced to fall into line. Not sure what One Nations position is... aside from that there's only really libertarian party(s).

.303 British is designed to be headspaced on the rim. Chamber dimension considerably exceeds the cartridge spec and cases will usually exhibit .030” increase in length to shoulder on firing. This was very typical for late C19 British cartridge designs (almost all the rimmed big game cartridges are similarly designed) where case life was imaterial but functionality in dirty environments was a priority, and it is undoubtedly one of the qualities that explains the reliability of .303 British service weapons. There are two options for extending .303 British case life: Neck-sizing fired brass with occasional shoulder-bumping OR using new barrels with chambers cut with a custom reamer matched to f/l resized brass. Some .303 rifles, including Ruger No1, exhibit poor accuracy from barrels made with 0.314” groove diameter barrels (some confusion here but I believe that this is CIP spec). A properly sorted .303 is undoubtedly capable of great accuracy, but most legacy platforms were built with other priorities; mostly reliability in demanding service conditions and compatibily of components made with diverse or clapped out machinery.

Great shooting, to both. The howa action looked alot smoother in your hands than other videos ive seen. Is the tikka barrel stock or a custom barrel? Also what bullet are you shooting in the 223? Been shooting short range BR for a few years now with my 30BR and 6BR. Looking to get a 223 rem for a plinking rifle i think. Not taking it out that far, but i think you sold me. Love these videos, Thanks!

0.510" groove diameter barrel. 12.7x99/.50BMG bullet diameter nominally 12.98mm/0.511". Makes complete sense, the 600gr factory .505" RN @ 2200fps is for pachyderms or T-Rex, not for LR targets!

I really enjoy watching your channel. Its always very Informational and educational thank you for all the hard work you put in to bring us great vedios. Ive been shooting my 7-RUM since 2005 . I shoot the 200gr in mine . I have a 7mm×416 Rigby improved very impressive ballistics. I had built way before the 7-RUM hit the market. One you might really appreciate is my 7mm Slayer. It's a 500 Jeffery necked up to 284-cal talk about a beast for long range pushes a 200gr bullet 3500+fps and still have yet to hit any pressure signs. Its very accurate. I get 1/4 in groups at those speeds. So I really have no need to push it any faster . I have been wildcating cartridges since 1995 . You could say I was born into it. My dad has been building Ackley improved or improving cartridges since the 1960s . It's always exciting to bring a cartridge to it's full potential. Keep up the great work building master pieces Thank you my friend . God bless you and your family.
