Chad I'm so impressed with your abilities and you have no fear of messing up as you say if I mess it up I can take it back off I've been a mechanic for the past 50 years and I'm like you in the fact that if I mess up something I can always fix it. Now I've learned from you that there is no fear and Bodywork or metal work that's really something that I've always wanted to try but I was always afraid to, by watching you and Jolene you two have given me the confidence to try somebody work on my 51 Chevy Bel Air thank you both for being so kind and putting out these videos for us to watch I haven't missed a single video that you've done on this project I thank you very much and will be watching can't wait to see you get the hood off and how you do it you're full of ideals and you put them to work thank you so much Chad and Jolene will be here watching

Chad just a suggestion, if you replace the ground clamps on your welder and plasma, with a large strong magnet, you'd be able to attach your ground to any spot on your work surface. God bless and stay safe.
@Marksmanbbs3 жыл бұрын
does that actually work? is it truly metal to metal ground at that point?
@bigleague67233 жыл бұрын
Thats a damn good idea James.
@i8ntnuts3 жыл бұрын
@ marksmanbbs I think it would be more trouble than it’s worth. Especially with Chad‘s projects. Bondo, rust, and paint are just not that good of an electrical conductor. Then you have all the round surfaces to contend with. I don’t know just seems like more trouble than it would be worth

It makes things go a lot faster when you know what and where you're welding and why you are welding the way that you are. The time saved from low to hardly any warpage makes a lot of difference in time and product. I like the way that its going for you. I still think that a 5.9 Cummins diesel would be a great powerplant in that. Have you thought of a name for it or do you do that much later in the build ? Time sure goes fast when you are busy. I can't believe how fast your viedo goes compared to others. Of course no one gets as much accomplished as fast as you do when making and welding on panels. The roller is probably your most used large tool in the shop. Of course the grinders and welders are number one. You can do this kind of work with hardly any tools but, a welder and grinder is things you just cant do without. Creativity is the first thing ......

I'm loving this series. Your ability to fabricate complicated pieces on the fly is amazing. The only thing I would like to see, though, is some kind of slatted grill in the hood of the Ford. I think there's too much sheet metal there and I think it would look good with a grill made out of bent flat bar like you had planned originally although not as big as that rendering. Then also maybe a grill in the Mercury similar to a 53 Ford F100 pickup style. Other than that I can't wait to see what it will be like when it's finished.

Just an esthetic consideration: I think it would be more conducive to the over all design if the roof line came straight down without the little hump in the back. It would take away the ‘Car sitting on a car’ look. With this done it’ll appear like it was made this way. Just sayin. Do what cha gotta do though. Your channel, your wisdom.👍🏻

I agree the hump needs to go it looks ok now but for anyone familiar with mid and late 30s cars it stands out like a sore thumb.

You guys are looking at the door lines, its s rewin with perception... sure the hump gone, full wrap back would be absolute truck, but I don't believe Chad was goin for that 100% truck look, a lot of chads art is where you look at it, after its finished, and it looks like a rolls Royce part, then some one says "I love the pinto fender you banged out..." lol...
@rijobaabojir27793 жыл бұрын
I agree, in order for this build to be completely successful the finished product should look like a COE truck and not just like two cars welded together.
@moondawg36933 жыл бұрын
@@rijobaabojir2779 Wrong ! Chad is an artist who works in automobiles, he's not a truck builder. The idea is to weld two cars together and create something nobody has ever seen before, not turn them into a preexisting big truck. I like your vision, but it's yours, not his. Cheers

I still think the headlights need to be changed. I admit that I do like the headlights but they don't flow well with the rest of the front end. Almost like they're angled opposite to the front of the hood. Otherwise I'm liking the build.
@i8ntnuts3 жыл бұрын
He probably got them as close as he could. I think with bondo he can contour them to flow with the existing lines. I wouldn’t be surprised if Chad has made some clay sculptures. He seems very adept at making shapes

If your cars did not move an inch, they still survive as automotive sculptures to be appreciated and preserved as a history of automotive art. An idea if I may...As the show is called "Bad Chad & Jolene" it may be nice to start the show with both of yous standing close together before Jolene walks to take the camera. The reason for this suggestion is that it allows people to see Jolene and it solidifies you guys as a couple and a team. It also adds a warm personal touch which instigates a great vibration. The end of the show could show the reverse where you two close the show with a hug...See what happens to your numbers then! :)

@dirtdog 1171 I was happy to see Aiden step back when Chad was blowing the dirt off the inside of the welder. It’s looking like the kid is no dummy. People who weld their entire lives don't always know hot to weld this body metal. I have seen some say it can't be done. Also seen some weld body metal with stick welders so skill level varies by a great deal. I have to be honest i wasn't seeing this build but now its looking great. I can see where it might go. I think it needs the grill like you mentioned Chad but its your vision of course but a nice grill that fit the natural body lines would look real nice. Got to tune in everyday to see how its going.
