She's been part of AH for a long time now (I think even before Gavin joined up?) and has edited video's for them for just as long, so it would make total sense to hire her as the main showrunner for AH. Besides, with how fans are reacting to Gavin constantly jettisoning off for Slow Mo Guys and other AH/RT related stuff I can't imagine a core member of AH being chosen to run the company and almost never showing up in a video again would really sit well with anyone. I'm fairly certain Geoff only managed it because he was drunk 90% of the time!
