This is well done and very informative. Thanks. Will get to EJS someday, just wish it wasn't 21 hours away!

I hear ya. I just drove 17 hours each way. It was tiring but absolutely worth every miserable mile to get there.

Yup, it's pretty intimidating from the cockpit

What was even more intimidating for me was walking up to the top and looking back down - looks totally vertical, but like he said, just roll through the dip and then give it consistent throttle and you'll climb right up with a little bit of tire chirping. I loved this obstacle though in its own right and also because it's a great primer for Hells Revenge, where you are doing similar climbs but with turns and drop-offs to the side.

4:00 the view is much more intimidating. Lol that ant no lie. I thought fins and things was as stunning or more then hells revenge. It had its own feel to it. Can't wait to get there in the next two weeks.
@ForgottenWaypoints
@ForgottenWaypoints 4 жыл бұрын
When we do Hell's Revenge we typically do the "tip toe" route, so we avoid Hell's Gate and Tip Over Challenge and just enjoy the trail. Make no mistake, it's still a technical 4-rated trail on the tip-toe route, but like you I've always felt that Fins and Things is more technical and difficult than the base Hell's Revenge. You can't bypass many of the challenges on Fins.

@@ForgottenWaypoints Oh yeah it can be very interesting. I think for me hells revenge has a lot of spots that you can tell "oh i am up here a ways, and i dont like heights" but fins and things has several spots to do that IFS wave.lol Last time i was there hells gate was a hard pass but i think im going to try it this go around but pass on cowboy hill and the escalator. Great video man!

What are your thoughts about a stock Toyota Tacoma (long bed) TRD Sport with KO2 completing this trail? My only concern is the departure angle and come home with lots of battle scars on the hitch. Thanks -
@ForgottenWaypoints
@ForgottenWaypoints 5 жыл бұрын
With a stock longbed, I'd be more concerned about breakover angle. The Tacoma rear is a bit high, and you will have scars on the hitch, but your bumper may be fine. Your rockers though....are so long. I'd want sliders and/or a lift personally. But ask the Tacoma forums, this is a popular trail and I bet dozens, if not more, will have traversed it in a taco and they'd be more qualified to comment on that long of a wheelbase.

I've seen bone stock Tundras do it. It shouldn't be a problem at all in a Tacoma.

But can it be done in a stock subaru?
@ForgottenWaypoints
@ForgottenWaypoints 5 жыл бұрын
If I remember right, there was vids of a Subaru completing it. I believe it had skid plates. It's not something you'd do daily, like you could in a proper two-speed 4wd.
@Apexline83
@Apexline83 5 жыл бұрын
There have been a few completing it, but they had a lot of mods. The Approach and departure angles on a stock Subaru would take the front and rear bumper off during the trail. So to answer your question no.

@joed1901
@joed1901 4 жыл бұрын
I just did this in a properly lifted Jeep yesterday. I have a stock quad cab z71 and would not think of taking it on this trail without serious mods. Front and rear bumpers would be torn off and with the long wheel base you would get high centered without a lift kit. If you have a lifted 2 door (short wheel base) z71 should be ok.

@@RVingTheCountry , Good to know, thanks. I guess time is flying by. I didn't recall 1 way signs when I went, but that was over 5 years ago, my cousin did it backwards quite a bit before that. I have no problem with this, one way would definitely keep traffic flowing better. Sounds like I need to head back and update the review (it needs to be filmed in 4k anyway!). Good luck with the heat, down in the bottom of Fins it was 103F when we went, but the rest of Moab was only low 90s...I can only imagine what it's like now!

@ForgottenWaypoints

True, it's the limit of a typical truck-based stock SUV with good driver skills. Just be aware of approach and departure. A small lift makes it significantly easier. It's definitely not for crossovers.
