@@MOAB-UT Differences between the two?
@MOAB-UT6 ай бұрын
@@steveludwig4200 I just prefer it. Both are good. I give the edge to Chicken Corner, even if you only go in as far as the pass (top with the view.) I find Chicken Corner to be a little more scenic and more interesting. There are long stretches, better overlooks, wind caves and at the end, chicken corner which is really cool. Shafer is just a long, nice trail. Has some views towards the end as well. Both are great and you should do both. Ideally do both. Are you planning to visit? Watch some videos online. With either, and especially if you continue passed the pass to the corner, do be careful around some of the turns. There are big drop offs and not guard railings. Never drive to close to the edge. Moab has red mud. The top can look dry but it can be wet an inch down so your truck can continue to slide.

Great video! Love this trail. Still memorable from 4 years ago when our family went. My kids and wife hit their fear limit riding some of the thinner stretches along the edge and we were prevented from completing the trail by a herd of cattle that blocked the way ahead. Dozens of cattle. Many perched precariously on the ledges below the trail. We waited for quite sometime but they weren't budging, so we did a 3 point turn around on a wide corner and headed back. Still, a very fun and definitely memorable trail!

@@MOAB-UT I'm definitely doing Shaffer trail and The White Rim trail. (Got permit months ago). Not sure about Hells Revenge yet.
@MOAB-UT2 жыл бұрын
@@GATORADDAM You will love all of it. So no UTV's allowed on Shafer since it's IN the Island in the Sky district of "Canyonlands National Park." You are supposed to pay a park entrance fee. There are two parks in the area, Canyonlands and Arches. You can get a pass that covers both parks for a 12 months. You will likely want to come back so that could be the better value. I've been 6 times. If you go UP Shafer (from Potash), you can come DOWN Long Canyon. Look into that. Or you could go UP Long Canyon and Down Shafer. White Rim is fine but I usually only go on it a short way to Muscleman Arch then I turn back. You do NOT want to skip H*lls Revenge. You can do it as a tour where they drive you in their 4x4 or you can follow a guide in a UTV. For your first time, driving alone in your vehicle will be properly intimidating...even right out of the gate from the parking lot. It's exciting. I've done it twice. As long as I take my time and go slow, it's fine. I also stick to the main safari route and I don't hit the optional obstacles. Definitely grab the guide book Moab UT Backroads & 4-WHeel Drive Trails. It's a life saver. Great places to eat are Gilibertos (Mexican), The Jailhouse Cafe' (Breakfast) and the Quesadilla Mobilla Food truck- on the corner near Jailhouse Cafe. Hydrate a lot when you are out there- then hydrate some more. If you like hiking- Delicate Arch and also Morning Glory Arch which is just down Rt. 128- it's not in the park but worth checking out. The drive down 128 is cool too. If you have any questions about the area, let me know. Where are you staying?

@@MOAB-UT A lot of great info. Much appreciated. I'm coming all the way from Central Florida so it is most likely a one shot deal. I'm driving a 2019 Tacoma TRD offroad 3 inch lift on 33s with skids and sliders. It's a month long trip starting with a return to the San Juan's in Colorado to meet up with some folks and do a few trails there including my 3rd run of Black Bear pass. Then on to Utah. My rig is nicely set up for wild camping with rooftop tent, awning, fridge and stuff. So most of my nights will be camping. I've seen videos of Hells Revenge and I'm not sure I'm up to that one. I have to drive my rig 2500 miles home when the trip ends. I really want to do top of the world but that one looks pretty rough on a vehicle as well. But that picture on the edge of the cliff at the top might be worth it. It would go nicely with the picture I have on Poser rock on Imogene pass!

I just got back from Moab and the trail was in worse shape than it looked in your video, especially once you started headed down the shelf road after Hurah Pass. Cool video! Would love to see more content like this from you guys. Your normal trail videos are great but sometimes they don't quite do the trails justice.

Thanks for the feedback! We completely agree with you - this is the direction we are working towards. Thanks for watching!

I worked at basecamp adventure lodge (you might have stopped by) but there was just a truck 2023 Ram just went off of the edge on the potash side of hurrah

I hope they are safe. A few of those turns are no fall zones...

Actually, the end of the trail is the actual “chicken corner”. You walk it around the ledge, unless you’re chicken. It opens to a beautiful ledge with views of canyons and the Colorado river. The one you mention about passengers getting out is “fake chicken corners”.

Doh! we heard it both ways. We will say that hike at the end is definitely scarier than anything driven on the trail! Thanks for letting us know!

Looks like I could run this one in 2wd in my Z71. My friend has a lifted Ram on 37's but it's only 2wd and we plan to do some of the easier trails when we go to Moab this summer with our sons.

You may have already figured this out, but the Green Diamond engines were a series of inline 6 cylinder engines produced by International Harvester from 1934 to 1949. I would love to say I knew that because I'm so smart, but I must give the credit to Google.

Beautiful video, well done! Can’t wait to check it out. What is the “not busy time” to go?
@Trailsoffroad3 жыл бұрын
Anymore, it seems to always be busy. Closer to late winter, or early spring, but snow can fall. Late fall/early winter is good too! A trick is to start early to beat the crowds- even if it's the busy season, which is how we do it.
