Yes!!! having a dry living area that does NOT need to be set up with a tent or dodger and does not impede function of the boat is absolutely huge. Great video 👍

Yeah, the ones that have tents are not in it to win..just for the experience

@@norml.hugh-mann sure and even just for cruising, if you are anchored and some event, wind shift, mooring issue, waves or tidal changes makes it necessary to move the boat during the night

Colin also has a lovely kids boat design called a “Bumblebee “. Good fun to build and a really lovely way to introduce under 6 year olds to some of the concepts of boating and being on the water. Possibly worth doing an interview with him on the topic and even a some proud builders too.

Very very cool. Have you considered a rear view mirror? I added a rear view mirror to my PT 11 for rowing and like it a lot when rowing alone. I think I'll add a compass like yours, too, that I can see while rowing.

We've seen mirrors added to RowCruisers, and other open water boats. As an open-water rower myself, it's one of my favorite additions for peace of mind.

is it possible to add the front row system to this boat? or do you have a front-row system that one could have as an option when purchasing your boat? that is really what I am looking for! or a twin boat set-up so two people can row facing each other as well as sleep comfortably in the boat! that would really nice for a couple 💞

btw, your boat is very similar to the liteboat xp20. The primary difference is that it lacks a sail, and is wood instead of composite.

Very exciting - have subscribed! Out of interest, what is the length & width of the boat?
What is approx weight of the Row Cruiser shell? Speed compared to a true rowing scull? Thanks!
@offcenterharbor2 жыл бұрын
It weighs about 150lbs - always varies a little depending on the builder. The RowCruiser can cruise around 4 knots and sprint around 6 - a rowing shell is more like 8/13. But for open-water boats, somewhere around 4 knots is pretty standard cruising speed.

what's the advantage/disadvantage of using this vs a sea kayak? Is this faster than a sea kayak? I don't need the sleeping cabin.
@offcenterharbor6 ай бұрын
The RowCruiser allows you to use your legs and sleep in it. A kayak lets you see where you're going!

Отличная ИДЕЯ! Прицеп к велосипеду!👍👏👏👏💯 А если в качестве противовеса поплавок как у полинезийских лодок+парус?

R2ak: the key to winning is propulsion. The winds are unreliable and the currents killer...the boat that can keep moving forward the longest and most consistently wins Spartan....too spartan for me

What's the cost of this setup 5 million bucks, us poors cant have. Guess I'm gonna have to get a used job boat to row on a river, lake and a crummy used rower for the ocean.

If you built your own, I bet you could be all-in under $5k.
