Hi Andy, one option is to just disable total pack overvoltage protection. And rely on cell high voltage protection and total charging high voltage protection. That way it should reset to 100% without turning of the charge mosfets.

80 K subs - congratulations 6:35 - SEPLOS BMS 10E V16.6 is used in the rack and the Mason Power Tower as I call it (even though it is really rather an Energy Tower than a power tower) ? And that is the V2 and not the V3 ? I don't understand why they have 2 different BMS for the black rack cases and a different one for the Power Tower. But you had also said in the previous video that you had ordered the power tower with a different bms that would match your previous Mason. Therefore I am now struggling what should be in that Power Tower usually and what is in your specific one or is it a general one without changes. I am watching this video for the second time and I am still unsure. But great video and great success getting close to 100k !

10:41 I have Felicity LPBA 48200 Yesterday , I asked the local support to upgrade my BMS firmware from version 518 to 521. While they were here working on the upgrade, I took the opportunity to check my battery cells using the EDMS app . I noticed that my cells are significantly out of balance, even though I regularly charge the battery to 100%. As the battery is 4 months age only and the delta is up to 250 mv it seems balancing features isn’t working at all I use BMS communication and the battery BMS takes control of bulk voltage , it is 56.7 but the battery never really reaches it . The maximum it reaches 55.7 . My inverter is voltronic Axpert VM III Please advise 🙏🙏🙏

@OffGridGarageAustralia
@OffGridGarageAustralia 10 ай бұрын
There is no clear answer to that. You have to choose the BMS as per your needs. How big is your battery, how much charge current, what is your load and max discharge current, cabling, breakers... all this. - 5000W at 24V makes 208A for your solar (far too much for your battery to charge with for my taste). A 200ABMS is just enough here if you can limit your MPPTs to 180A. - 4500W at 24V makes 187A (too much for your batteries, I would say). A 200A BMS is fine. I would not recommend charging/discharging these batteries with such high currents on a daily base. Everything over 160A (over 0.5C) is very high and stressful for the batteries. Consider a second battery pack in parallel.

Hi Andy. You are using an external power supply with high voltage output. Most of DIY peoples have no such supplies. I have heard you can control by Cerbo GX via menu DVCC. With current and voltage limit settings. It will help but the reaction time between new settings and actual voltage/current is slow. Sometimes the bms of Cerbo will go stand-by mode. It is irritant. May be you can demonstrate in a next video how to cooperate wit DVCC?
@OffGridGarageAustralia
@OffGridGarageAustralia 10 ай бұрын
I think most people building their own batteries have such a power supply. Even the cheap 60V/5A PS will do the job and cost around $70. I have made a few videos about DVCC already. What in particular do you want to see?
@erikcoenders100
@erikcoenders100 10 ай бұрын
@@OffGridGarageAustralia Suppose you want to sell the batteries to customers/families/friends, you do not like to go there every half year to execute a top balance. In this case the DVCC should be ideal as power supply as remote control. However I am still facing that there is several cycles when the current and voltage limit settings are applied. A cycle is charging, idle and sometimes discharge. This cycle take about 1-5 mins. That is not desired. BMS want to keep the voltage like 55.2V constant so it is sometimes charging or discharging. May be you can demonstrate how to solve it. It is still not clear how can we see any status from active balancer v3.0 in BMS Studio app. Is there a communication between BMS and active balancer using 4 wires on DRY port? What will do this port? Thanks in advance.
@OffGridGarageAustralia
@OffGridGarageAustralia 10 ай бұрын
@@erikcoenders100 I don't understand how DVCC can help with balancing. This has nothing to do with it. Not sure what you mean with that... The Seplos active balancer is a standalone device and cannot be managed. It has fixed settings which cannot be changed or altered. There is no communication between the BMS and the balancer.

Andy, great video it has helped me to get my batteries to 100%. I am in the UK and running the Seplos with a multiplus 2 and a grid tied inverter. I don’t have anything to discharge the batteries other than through ESS in the Victron, will I be able to achieve the full discharge this way? I have the new V3 BMS with active balancing. Thanks Merv
@OffGridGarageAustralia
@OffGridGarageAustralia 10 ай бұрын
Thanks Merv. If you can discharge the battery by exporting the energy to the grid through your ESS, that will do the trick. Is that what you meant? The calibration of the BMS is actually not too important. It will learn over time, and you can always manually overwrite the setting anyway.
@s300bhp

Great video... Seeing you connect a discharged battery and balancing with your charged batteries illustrates a problem I am experiencing. I have five 63Ah batteries in parallel, all with the same voltage showing. Four are approximately the same SOC but one has a much higher SOC and causes the inverter to discharge the others below their cut-off as the inverter totals the five SOCs and divides by the number of batteries. So, as far as the inverter is concerned, the SOC is at 10% (cut off) with four below 5% and one at around 30%. Any ideas of the potential cause? The inverter is a Lux AC coupled and the five batteries are Hanchu/Greenlynx 3.2kWh.

@ColeRV
@ColeRV 10 ай бұрын
The BMS model code is "DR48100JC", I think they are proprietary and although the settings can be viewed using "Daren High Tech" software, they can't be changed, I think the software is for another product and is not 100% compatible. By not connecting the "uncooperative" battery through RS485, the inverter ignores that battery (but the capacity is utilised in a "dumb" mode) and the other four work as they should using inverter discharge cut-offs.

The BMS of the battery should shut down the pack when on cell goes under the set limit, leaving all the other packs connected and operational BUT, with 6 packs in parallel, I would highly recommend having the BMS communicating with the inverter (master-slave config). So, the inverter should know there is a problem with one of the packs and stops discharging any further.

If you are wondering why I'm saying that: you should be able to see the intended (rated) capacity with the actual capacity.

Yeah, I get that, rated stays at 280Ah but actual should update... well, it didn't, not even after a full charge again.

@@OffGridGarageAustralia I don’t know if your garage can hold much more storage. You may need to expand.

I build this battery in December, It would be so good to have this video when I was building it 😅. Now everything is working good after I understood the « seplos logic » which is a bit far from mine 😂

Top balancing it like to build the building on a swamp. Totaly wrong ;) from 3.45-3.65v it a swamp. Bottom balancing .Higest cell little bit +30mv, lovest cell -30mv . balancing start fro m 3.5V!!!! cell protection 3.55v. Charging 3.45V Works perfect. Balancing never turns on coz all balanced;)

Hi Andy, the active balancer from Seplos seems to be a bottom balancer according the specs. Start balancing voltage is 3,0V and stop balancing voltage is 2,9V. Therefore it is not my choice although I just building up my battery bank with 2 Seplos V3 BMS.
@OffGridGarageAustralia
@OffGridGarageAustralia 10 ай бұрын
@@stephantitze8302 It's a top balancer. It only means, that it will stop balancing if the voltage goes under 2.9V to stop further discharging the batteries. It then start balancing again at 3.0V if the voltage delts is higher than 50mW. Not great.
