Disney Parks also existed in the past. The past is a scary place full of looser building codes, cigarette smoke and $1 churros... Actually, that last one doesn't sound so bad. Join me as we journey into the past to uncover remnants that still exist in the present... And will probably remain into the future, although not permanently probably due to the passage of time. We're all temporary. Everything is temporary. Time marches onward, unceasing.

At Tokyo Disney, the steam train only encircles "Westernland" and has a single stop. On the other hand, they do have the best monorail there, encircling the entire resort (one you actually have to buy tickets for, and go through a faregate like the ones all Japanese trains have, but it's worth it). And DisneySea has an "Electric Railway" elevated trolley with turn-of-the-20th-century styling that shuttles between two stops. So Disney's whole train thing gets plenty of representation. Come to think of it, one of the major owners of its parent company is a railway.

I would daresay the reason for no food/drink on the trains at Disney World is because those trains have a heck of a lot more people that ride them throughout the day. They probably allowed food at the beginning but people being people, they were leaving too much of a mess behind so they had to put a stop to it. :/

(Another friend played Indy there , for a live Indiana Jones show there, at about the same time.) Anyway… “Choose wisely” was what the Grail Knight, in, “Last Crusade”, told Indy, Elsa (No… Not the one from Frozen!), & Donovan, when they were trying to figure out which grail was the genuine artifact!

I still have my Indiana Jones decoder card from the first day open. This was the first cue at Disneyland to be interactive and entertaining enough that you didn't really mind the long wait. i actually have some of those ATT cards from the Indian Jones ride. the original, not the second wave of cards. theyre my disney artifact edit bc i had to add. Dinosaur was like my #1 movie as a child. 99 baby, i had a viewfinder with a picture card of the movie. i had the VHS that got so much use im surprised it didnt break. same with Mary Poppins, we had like every Disney VHS known to man due to my Nana and Papa. when my mom had my little brother, my parents got me a bunch of dino figures to make me feel like i was still wanted n to not get jealous (they thought id get upset i wasnt getting the attention a newborn needs at 2 yrs old). iv always loved my brother and protected him, always took great care of him, so they had nothing to worry about. i was a good big sister. but that movie was a huge part of my life as a child. my dino obsession hasnt stopped or lessened, even 23 years after i got those figures.

Fun fact: on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, there is a railway preservation society that runs a scenic excursion train from Ewa Beach to Kahe Point along the western shore of the island - on the return leg, the train often stops in Ko Olina so the passengers can get ice cream: which means, by proxy, Disney's Aulani Resort has a train. Now as Main Street was based on the ider of a turn of the century town, the gardens could serve as a reference to something that was becoming big in the US at the turn of the century. Trolly Parks. Picnic/amusement arers that would be set up by street car companies to encourage people to use the lines more as they could take them to these parks at the end of the line. The 2nd Electric Park in Kansas City, which Disney himself touted as inspiration was a trolly park. (The first park using that name was a beer garden).

I thought (and still am under the impression) that the “choose wisely” sign is in reference to the three choices guest can “make” when going through the three different chambers at the beginning of the ride. Since in the longer preshow, we learn we are part of the craze of guests coming to see one of our three desires granted, but by the end of the ride, we learn that those riches, wisdom, or youth were not worth the risk of death. The sign at the end (although sponsored) spoke to the morale lesson of the ride. With changes in later years, this storyline plot point is lost on most casual guests.

Went to Disney World for the first time a couple of years ago. Always wanted to ride Dinosaur ever since Animal Kingdom opened. I had an absolute blast on that ride. Might be because I love dinosaurs, but I also suspect the fact I was absolutely cross faded from several beers, pain killers, and an edible might have had something to do with it too. Either way I had fun and I got a great photo of my wife white knuckling the grab bar with this stern face like she was just waiting for the ride to be over already and me with my arms up having the time of my life. So glad I got to experience that ride before they replace it. Also I was actually at DCA on opening day and even as a too cool for much of anything teenager I genuinely enjoyed the Eureka parade. That whole park felt half assed and then out of nowhere they have this mid day parade that is just so incredibly extra and full of that classic Disney attention to detail that it genuinely felt weird. I will NEVER forget that and Eureka is definitely my favorite parade because of how underwhelming DCA was on opening day.

im so sad about dinosaur that was like the number one thing i saw on travel channel specials that made me wanna go to disney as a kid. i finally got to go there as an adult and i've only been twice but im so glad i got to go dinosaur one time. i love those giant animatronics but if it has to go indiana jones will be a good successor...even if its not as cute and kitschy. i love that vintage feel it has. rip dinosaur 😭 i dont think i'll get to ride it again before it closes

When DinoLand is re-themed, what will happen to all the artefacts in the Dinosaur queue? And also Dino Sue.

I'm still bummed that they never created a mythological animal section in Animal Kingdom, as seen on the original sign.

16:02 Uh.. The Disneyland Paris Railroad DOES in fact have a replica of Disneyland's grand canyon diorama. At first I thought you might be joking, but it doesn't really come across as such.
