‘Let Me Explain’ is by far his funniest special. I remember the first time I watched it, when it just came out… I couldn’t believe how consistently it was making me actually laugh out loud. This one bit, The Bum Bump, made me cry every single time I watched it.

Super dark but my sister and I about lost it in my stepgrandpas funeral. Literally had to hold our breath and go out to the car to keep from busting out laughing in the funeral home. We cried laughing. We were standing there with my mom. People were coming by giving their condolences. A guy came up, you could tell he felt awkward and didn’t know what to say. Im awkward too so I get it. But he came up to my mom and said: “Hey Debbie.. uhh.. sorry about that” and pointed at my grandpa in the casket. You could see how quickly he realized how weird it came off, panicked and walked off. Literally had to hold in the laugh. We still bust out laughing every time we think of it or talk about it. That poor guy.

I'm the youngest of six sisters. When my dad died, one of my sisters had passed years before so it was 5 of us and my mom in the family car. This was back in the 80s and people still dressed formally for funerals, and even at the visitation the night before. We have some rather "colorful" family and one of them was my dad's sister, who showed up to the funeral in a black lounge suit (pants and flowy shirt) with huge pink flowers all over it. For some reason, this struck my next oldest sister and me as the funniest thing we'd ever seen. We managed to get it together for the actual funeral, but when we all loaded into the limo to go to the cemetery, and our mother asked what our problem had been at the beginning of the service, we lost it again. Kim said, "You didn't NOTICE Aunt Peg??" Then we were all gone - the chauffeur must have thought we'd lost our minds. When my uncle died - dad's brother - one of his daughters, the 2nd eldest (he had 9 kids btw) walked up to the casket just before the funeral started, threw herself across her father's body and screamed, "DAAAAADAAAAAY!!" The woman was 60 years old, for pete's sake. She'd run away from home as a teen and had only been home for brief visits in the years since. We were all rolling our eyes. Then the preacher, who was new to the family church, asked for shared remembrances. Immediately we all began scrambling for something to say. My uncle was a drunk with a very troubled life and it wasn't easy to come up with a "shareable" moment. Most were not fit for funereal discussion! Suddenly I thought, "Meatballs! I can talk about his meatballs!" He made the best meatballs ever. But danged if his daughter, my cousin the closest to me in age, didn't get up there and talk about the meatballs! In the end, one or two others said something and the preacher must have realized that was as good as it got. He shut it down after that. Even now, when that cousin and I get together, we laugh about the meatballs.

It must be a Philly thing 🤔. My dad threw me in the Atlantic Ocean when I was 5 and said 'Swim'. I learned that day in Wildwood, NJ. Also, whenever my uncles were gone & not around, I asked where they were and was told 'They're in college' aka jail.

At my grandfather's funeral we had lots of people making inappropriate conversation, and saying funny stuff. I'm sure I saw at least 5 people laugh at various times. I think that's good, as I would like to think that he would rather see his family that is left behind being happy and joyous. It was also during covid so you had the odd chatter because most people didn't opt to wear a mask, and you could hear the goody two-shoes murmuring and looking at people disapprovingly, and conversely you had the people sort of chuckling at them for being overly paranoid. It was an interesting dynamic
