I like the story of Wegener (1915). Still similar things are happening now.

Hello Dr. Franke, I am watching La Palma right now. A great case, to get familiar with the way, a volcano eruption happens... Please, what has changed since 2017 and today Nov 2021? It was hard for me to understand, why the knowledge of plates was for such a long time locked away... Now, everything is real time and GPS and Seismic stations IRIS / EMSC / USGS / Geofon Potsdam / IGN / and many more are there and taking data. Thank you very much ! Stay safe, greetings from Oklahoma/Germany

He mentioned Steven Kramer''s Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering in Lecture 1. We used that book also in our university.

I am not a student of yours, buy fascinated by seismology. I the past 3 years, I have seen the flat earth movement which takes scripture and have convinced themselves that, according to the Bible, the earth is flat and motionless. Any science that indicates it is not is satanic - especially seismology. Could I ask your opinion?

Is this guy really believing the bible stuff or is he just kidding?

He is not kidding (sadly). He's an american after all. It is still a deeply religious country (sigh). But despite the fact that his mind is still stuck in the early 1600s, his geotechnical knowledge is on point, and his lectures are really appriciated!
