I worked in the Civil Engineering Division of a small city for many years as a Draftsman. It never bothered me to deal with the public, and a camera would not have bothered me (30 years ago, almost no one had a cellphone, and a Video camera setup was expensive.) I remember when transparency became an issue, and just needed permission from the City Manager before giving out something he told me to keep confidential. I certainly don't understand these people having this attitude.

I grew up in a village that is the birth place if IBM. They were the largest employer in the county. A large amount of their employees thought they were far better than anyone else because they worked for IBM. Back when people used checks I heard a few times while in line at a store the cashier ask for ID because they wrote a check . Offended the IBMer would bark back "I work for IBM" . That didn't get them anywhere . The same thing happens with government employees . They get the golden government job and everyone else becomes trash . When IBM started dumping employees the ones who were let go were getting interviewed by the news and whining about how it's not fair and how they wanted special treatment for jobs . This country was ALWAYS considered "great" because of the FREEDOMS that were unalienable and could not be infringed upon BECAUSE WE ARE A PEOPLE THAT WANT FREEDOM ABOVE ALL ELSE. But that hasn't been the case for more than a century, probably more like 2 centuries. And that's the problem. No more checks and balances from the 3 branches of government set up in the first 3 Articles of the Constitution. The fourth branch, and greatest, most powerful branch, is NEVER acknowledged! And that would be The People. And that is made perfectly clear by the second amendment. Wouldn't you agree? Let me know what anybody thinks.

Sometimes My 87 year old mother watches these videos and ask why everyone is so scared of cameras even though there’s cameras everywhere in stores, public buildings, traffic intersections etc. The public servants don’t identify themselves and then act rude and refuse to give you a complaint form. On a busy day there could potentially be a dozen people in that lobby listening to the so-called private conversations. Totally ridiculous.
@priayief2 жыл бұрын
I agree that this audit was well done. The question of, "Why is everyone so scared of cameras even though there's cameras everywhere ..." As irrational as it may be and even in countries where public photography is legal, a vast majority of citizens will get nervous or concerned. Try it yourself. Start taking videos of random people and sooner than not someone will express concern or nervousness. And, depending upon how you (the person filming) react, the situation can escalate quickly. Try it yourself. Human nature is not always rational.

Whether that lobby is full of local people or one guy with a camera, if you’re that concerned about someone hearing your business, either situation would be an issue. I showed your work to my community and so many people would say things like “oh he’s just causing trouble or why would he do this” etc etc. Overtime, so many of my members have seen the importance of this work. @@OlYables Clearly you have little understanding of the Bill of Rights.....They were not written to make public employees comfortable, but to ensure that Citizens have Freedoms. @@Rightrudder2 I understand the Bill of Rights perfectly well. I understand that rights are there to protect us from government overreach, and are not something to be exploited and shoved in the faces of unsuspecting citizens, simply hired to do a job.
