Yeah that's strange. I always get stopped by police, having a K8 unit search my car, tearing up my leather, slobbering on all my papers, getting my mother threatened by arrest, accused for being dodgy, paraded around my car like a prize ... because we all know that wide turns is the entry traffic infraction to drug smuggling. @Tonythetiger More good, well trained scent dogs have been ruined by "numb-nut" K-9 "Trainers" than you will ever be able to count. Makes you wonder just how many of these K-9 dogs have bee deliberately killed (locked in hot cars, with windows rolled up - while the officer was distracted or attending "training" -then coming back to find the dog dead from heat stroke) or the dog is recycled over and over when they find out he won't play the game the way they want it to. I know more than a few real, legitimate breeders who will NOT supply their best animals to any county Mounties or "one-horse" town police departments - the word has been passed down about their practices! Good lawyers are asking for proof (show and tell) exercises of the dogs abilities - instead of just accepting 'certificates'. Juar like they have started to challenge DUI machines, asking for records of calibration being done according to recognized standards. The Blue line is starting to crack... people are tiring of the antics of these cowboy cops. We All owe a debt of gratitude to Blacks - they are first, in a long line people who are resisting Hero worship of corrupt police.

most" interesting, to me is the actions of his fellow officers - especially the tall one wearing the baseball caop. I got the feeling he was personally embarrassment as he seemed shamed by the abusive officers non-stop attempt to invoke some form of "complicit" agreement condone his biases. The Kid, obviously knew the game the talkative officer was playing (his mother had prepared him well - all young black males are usually 'gifted' with the knowledge, already know how to read the behavior of idiots... it comes under the title "Mother Wit" - no one who is secure in what he is doing needs to enguage in a non-stop, dialog of Bull crap. The kids silence was his polite way of ignoring the attempted justification - for the totally unjustified harassment - under color of authority! Mom was having NONE of it either. He blew his last chance when he tried to start spinning his web of lies on Mom. He just refused to beleive that she what she was telling him. "All you can tell me is - why you stopped my son? Nothing else you have to say is worth hearing...then she walked away.. Case closed, - see you in court!

Update from may 2023 The lawsuit, filed in 2019, argues Crawford unlawfully conducted a pat-down search of Lea, prolonging the traffic stop beyond its initial purpose, which Stivers agreed violated his fourth amendment rights. Stivers ruled that there was no reasonable suspicion of criminal activity that justified detaining Lea beyond the traffic infraction investigation. As part of the ruling, the judge dismissed the lawsuit against other officers named in the suit. Officials said the city is ordered to pay $375,000 to Lea -- with his attorney confirming the settlement amount to WHAS11 News on Friday morning. While Crawford no longer works at LMPD, he was hired by Jeffersonville Police in 2019.

The cop that will always be the reason for him not trusting police, actually asking him to say what happened to him, to give a good explainaion why he was frustrated at the cops, well officer i didnt have no reason till about 30 minutes ago, would be a honest answer. He was nice, respectful, and doing what was told and his mom called him, the cop had no reason at all to suspect of him anything, at the point of forcing him out of the car, and no doubtly at any other time if he wouldn't have been removed, would they have had any reason, thats just common sense, even worse, after they did remove him, there was still no reasonable doubt at all the he was a threat, or his parents that was asked to back up more when clearly they had stopped and wasnt trying to impede the cops in any way, other than one the cops wanting to force them back even farther, gotta give it to a obvious intelligent young man, other than making a wide turn, but hey, im sure that will never happen again, and wouldnt have if he would have just been giving a warning and let go.

And thats the problem. The fact they failed to turn up needs to be addressed. The case should NOT be dismissed, it needs to be reversed and they know they were being cunts and they need to face the system, because they make that kids life a shit and get nothing for it, but he will forever have a grudge against cops and if the same thing happens again, even if the cop might not be wanting to make a situation like those wankers did, the kid might think he will and he WILL have an attitude and things wil escalate when they might not have. Those fucker pigs need to face the court system on why they did not turn up and they absolutely MUST face a heavy fine that they have to pay, not the government taxes. No kidding! That poor kid had every reason to be nervous considering that law enforcement has a terrible reputation that has definitely been earned. As a mother, my heart went out to both of them. I have two grown sons and I know I'd have been seriously worried walking up to that situation. Even more so after seeing that the officer handling the stop was the kind of moron every parent fears their child will eventually cross paths with. : (

it's crazy because the guy probably made the wide turn because he was nervous after realizing he was being followed. the same has happened to me. they just follow you waiting for you to make the smallest mistake, and of course, you WILL make a mistake after a while. the bs "wide turn" violation was just excuse to pat him down.

@@jsplay7415 its the difference between going to a car dealer, show room...where it has a "For Sale" sign in the window; verses, going to the parking lot at the local "Piggly Wiggly", where you are looking in the windows, sitting on the hood, kicking the tires or maybe lifting the hood to see the engine. As long as you don't abuse the property or damage it - any reasonable buyer should be allowed get a reasonable chance to trespass based on his role as a potential buyer. The owner has given up some of his "privacy" expectations... when he put the For Sale sign i the window. I think you are going way past being an advocate for the "over-bearing", power hungry Cop. I think you knew, his point had "Nothing" to do with - trespass...it was an attempt to "invent" a law, when there wasn't one. She, the mother, called his bluff and gave a more than reasonable explanation of "Why" he was full of crap - his weak excuse, was nothing more than an attempt to hide his abuse of her son! - she made sure he understood, that she understood his BS... fake excuse.
