It comes preinstalled on the Ally X, but if you'd like to, I can probably save it and upload to OneDrive

I bought the Rog Ally yesterday. Its a great device. I was thinking about getting the Steam Deck but I want Windows
@QuickExpertReviews2 күн бұрын
I originally had Steam Deck. Long before first Ally released. This has sold me on the idea of having a handheld PC device. But no access to Xbox Games Pass, issues with some old titles from Uplay, constant updates of Proton, switching between different Proton revisions, wasn't exactly the experience I wanted. And then Ally released with Windows on board and it was everything I wanted from a gaming handheld

‘I don’t know what CD Project Red are doing but perf is abysmal’ What version of CP are you running? What graphical settings? Cyberpunk can make 4090s weep, so your individual settings are quite important.

You have to turn CPU Boost on (normally we keep it off to improve performance) because it really helps with frame gen

So I followed but I was getting confused with the weird overlay from armoury crate because it was giving me low fps but I tried from different overlays and they were giving the better results but aside from all that my games were running smoother from messing with these AMD settings
@QuickExpertReviews3 күн бұрын
Armoury Crate overlay doesn't work with AFMF 2
@optionseven96994 күн бұрын
Do you need to close out the game before switching it on? It seems this update has made the entire AMD app very buggy. Having trouble getting games to run good again.
@QuickExpertReviews4 күн бұрын
Yes, you'd have to close the game. There is Armoury Crate shortcut for the side panel to turn AFMF on, but it was introduced for first generation of AFMF and I never got it to work anyway, so I tend to turn it on before I launch the game
@Badboy521445 күн бұрын
Can this work on older games? Like fear?
@QuickExpertReviews5 күн бұрын
Yes, it works for anything that will show up in AMD Adrenaline, however FEAR (what a great game!) works really well even without it
@janelpancho5 күн бұрын
It has a high framerate but it doesn't seem to smooth the game. Its like faking the framerate.
@Chris.P.Bacon75 күн бұрын
Damn so what's the point of it then
@kineticninja79895 күн бұрын
That’s quite literally what frame generation is/does. They are AI generated frames that get inserted in between native frames. It works better for some games than others. Settings and frame rate matter. If the game barely hits 60 fps without FG, then even FG might not help much.
@Edgar-ob9vq5 күн бұрын
Yea that what I thought too, the game doesn’t look smooth even at 70fps.
@demonportable5 күн бұрын
playing methaphor it surely has smoothen the frames between 30 to 50fps

I’ve heard it’s the overlay that causes the stutters. Haven’t tested myself though
@jackcampbell20213 күн бұрын
I’ve seen people get great performance out of a couple games with it but haven’t tested it myself, but i think I’ll stick with the lossless scaling app for now until this gets optimized a little bit based off what everyone’s seems to be saying

I've found the best combo to be, Lossless for upscaling and AFMF 2 for frame generation. Best of both worlds.

afmf 2 rog ally x quotation mark??? Why? And games are buggy and not even hitting the normal 60 to 120fps.
@QuickExpertReviews3 күн бұрын
Depends on the game. It doesn't have to hit 60 for you to see a difference. Even 40-50 is good enough for some titles.
@e.d.v.82025 күн бұрын
AFMF2 is disappointing ihmo. I compared it to Lossless scaling on my Ally especially with demanding games such as The Last Of Us and Silent Hill 2 remake, and this is a no brainer, Lossless is so much more effective

Glad it works for you better. I've found the best combo in using AFMF 2 for frame generation and LS for upscaling

@KevinPlays2444 күн бұрын
Just use loseless scaling...
@QuickExpertReviews3 күн бұрын
You can use both in tandem. Losless scaling for upscaling, as it's superior to FSR3 and RSR and AFMF 2 for frame gen

Don’t update to this shit it is horrible. Your handheld is gonna run like crap. I’m not exactly what you would call tech savvy so this is bugging me.

Long story short, depends on the game
@charlierose17085 күн бұрын
It makes games feel and look worse and it turns itself on and off depending on how fast you move the camera. Totally worthless 😂
@naim30115 күн бұрын
set the search mode to high not auto. That way afmf will never turn on and off not matter how fast you pan the camera. If you set auto it will turn on and off depending on how fast if you pan the camera.

Each to their own. I've tried and tested MSI CLAW, ASUS ROG Ally (and now X), and Legion Go and each had their own pros and cons. For me the issue with LeGo isn't about software updates (or back then lack of thereof) but how cumbersome it was when docked. In theory it should work perfectly when docked, as you just pop the joycons or however Lenovo calls them, and use the device docked, but sometimes the picture on the TV ended up in portrait (on it's own) other times it would get inverted. On top of that Legion Space would only open 5 out of 10 times. Sometimes requiring restart, sometimes force closing. On top of that lack of VRR and fingerprint sensor was really disappointing. I could live without fingerprint sensor, but I'm very sensitive to framerste changes and lack of VRR was a real problem for me. Lastly, no amount of tweaking in Realtek settings and that FX studio would make the speakers sound good for me. They were abysmal. However It's not all doom and gloom. It ran some games faster than ROG Ally, the screen is gorgeous, I loved the built in kickstand and the triggers were a joy to use. Overall each to their own I suppose.

I wouldn't bother switching to legion go because I have one and we are all side loading drivers because Lenovo gpu driver support is terrible! I think what has happened is that these companies got a cheap deal from AMD for the Z1 extreme chip and part of the deal was no support from AMD (the companies have to do the support) and obviously these companies don't want to spend money on support.
