Believe it or not they are about to do fusions because they're following the same pattern as the digimon franchise. If you're familiar with both games and shows its literally a mimic. I’m pretty sure everyone knows this fusion. Sun and Moon has dex entities that go about like this. Beldum + Beldum = Metang Metang + Metang = Metagross Beldum + Beldum + Metang + Metagross = Mega Metagross So in short 1 Beldum • 8 = Mega Metagross

Yes, they can each bring out their full potencial only when working As One, hence a "Fusion" We also see in the game that Calyrex needs the rope (can't remember how it's called) to fully unite with the Steeds, as his powers are only enough to tame their undominable nature. And the rope required to have hair/ice shard from the Steed, it literaly and symbolically "ties" them together. It's a fusion more in the sense of something like Avatar and the wierd usb-hair that creatures have in Pandora. And while I know people don't pay attention to details and would rather say "it's the same", we do see that Calyrex changes after it unites with his Steed. His cape-thingy grows larger and longer, it also starts glowing, as does his gigantic "crown". As if this is an "awakened" or "enlightened" state, akin to a Resolute/ Primal/ Origin/ Therian Forme, him as his prime.

I don't think it's even ever referred to as fusion in-game. The item description for the Reins of Unity says "unite" and not "fuse" (which is used for Kyruem and Necrozma's items).

​@@juliandelapena4293Yes, RéBURST was official. It marketed itself as a Pokémon series targeting older audiences, and even got published in the same magazine as Detective Conan and Inuyasha. It saw respectable success in Japan, running for 8 volumes at about 10 chapters a volume, but fans outside of Japan hated the entire concept of humans and Pokémon fusing, so it never got officially localized into other languages, and you'll be lucky if you find unofficial fan translations after the first 10 chapters.

Pokemon Reburst was amazing. The writing was nice and the fact that the evil team was realistically evil made me like the series. They didn't mess around, they were terrorists that didn't second guess opening fire with real guns and pokemon against innocent bystanders in their goal of procuring the gems that allowed people to fuse with pokemon and doing other crimes. Heck even the mainline evil teams could learn something about that spin off team. It was such a shame it got axed and we only read up to the point it was terminated via leaks, it had so much potential as also the narration was incredibly good as if I recall correctly it was written by the veterans of Pokemon Special which again is a shame that it wasn't allowed to go public as Special manga also has a lot of violence with pokemon getting killed, protagonists getting PTSD because Yveltal commited mass genocide and destroyed Kalems original hometown and much more.

I had to do check bulbapedia when you called the legendary bird fusion Zapmolcuno, since I’ve always known it as Thu-Fi-Zer. Turns out both names are actually correct, due to the fusion having no English translated name. Zapmolcuno is the translation in Czech (and Zapmolticuno, which is Brazilian Portuguese), while Thu-Fi-Zer is the direct Japanese translation (which is also the Vietnamese version of the name). Figured I’d share this since I thought it was a neat fact

It's because the Legensary Bird have a different name in Japan, that got changed when translated in USA In Japan they got some whack names, just " Thunder, Fire, Freezer" or something like that. Hence Thun-Fi-Zer instead of Zapmolcuno
