Thanks for the tutorial. I did a pair based on the OG TikTok. Grabbed a used pair and cleaned them. No insoles when I dunked. No acetone, no soap when I washed them after, and my water was boiling. They look good, just took forever to dry completely and yea they still reek like coffee. It’s a lot harder than it looks! Making the lace holes big enough was super tedious for me. Not rushing to customize another pair of kicks lol.

I wonder if you’d get a slightly darker color if you added the coffee to barely boiling water and then let it cool to the desired temp before the dunk. From a coffee drinking standpoint 175f makes for a weak light colored brew. If I had to guess I’d think you’d extract more color from the coffee by soaking the grounds at a higher temp

I think the finisher is mainly to protect paint, but the coffee is acting as a dye here so maybe that’s not necessary. You can get a nice shiny finish with glossy finisher if you wanted

You’re for sure damaging the shoes doing any of this, they will lose water resistance and won’t last as long, but this is a fashion thing and people generally don’t care

Yeah that's a great way to get second life from a beat pair. But please don't use coffee, just use dye. It's cheaper than coffee and it's the same exact process with more consistent results

if i had those shoes i would clean it everyday by simply wiping it and try to not lose the white color of the shoe. but it will lose the color anyways, then you will have some kind of "coffee" air force 1. but just not with the coffee. but if there is any guarantee that the shoe will perform well and not gonna smell, i would do it
