At the end the commentator says "Wales were left with a sense of "What might have been?. I would add especially taking into account that North was NOT in touch when he released the ball to Webb. But hey, don´t bother showing us the slow motion replay. England deserved the win, but a blind touch judge spoiled what could heve been the greatest turnaround in Rugby history.

@iDefenceee

+JackoJ15 By that logic of if's and and's, England shouldn't have been so far in front initially due to some suspect Joubert refereeing. England scrum penalty for 6-0, Hartley was the first player to pop and therefore should have been penalised. Haskell counter-ruck for 19-0 was illegal as he bear crawled through the ruck (if your hands touch the floor, you aren't supporting your own body weight therefore you're off your feet). I personally don't see how the Cole try should have stood as it was inconclusive as far as I can see, and I disagree Wales should have been down to 14 as I feel that was obviously unintentional, his eyes were closed and he is far from a dirty player (1 career yellow card for scrum penalties...) and going by the logic of down to 14 based on the citing commissioner, England should have been down to 14 due to Maller's "gypsy boy" comment (Harsh in my eyes but whatever) or even the forearm smash on Rob Evans during the Cole inconclusive grounding (that I feel was worse than the "gypsy" charade), and the citing commissioner issued a warning to Haskell for a neck roll, meaning that the incident should have been deemed a yellow card. All that said, I'm by no means bitter, England were by far the better team, and 100% deserved to win the game, with the final scoreline flattering Wales emphatically.

Scrum Technique- and second-row stealing most of the line out and then by forcing Wales to concede penalty on after spotting the opportunity of a turnover then neutralizing them. I love the England break down, and their “Blitz Defense & Drift Defense” able to break tackles they overpowered Wales!

I watched this 'back home' in Wales and was literally in the process of saying "if we go in at half-time only 9 points down. we've done well" when England scored the try. Then, half way through the second half when Wales were out of it I joked "two quick tries and we're back in this". Then the fun started. It was a fair result. In fact, if Wales had won that match, we would be talking now about one of the greatest Welsh performances in rugby history when, in reality, they were painful to watch for the majority of the game.

Yes, North wasn't in touch but his try at around 75 minutes shouldn't have been given - he was given quite a forward pass from Davies. You can see that when Davies passes he's on the 22m line and when North catches it he's quite a way infront of it. Also, Faletau's try was also not really a try since Tipuric quite clearly obstructed Danny Care - I'm not saying Care would've stopped him but he was still obstructed and so the try should've been disallowed. But England won so don't care that much.
@AgnorRonga
@AgnorRonga 8 жыл бұрын
I'm still undecided on the pass to North, some angles it looks forward... Whatever. But yeah, that obstruction is so ridiculously blatant I can't believe it wasn't picked up. As you said though, the overall better team won!
@huwevans6957

+Toby Baker Very clever play by Tipuric. If you are behind the player it's a pod and legal. Unlike what Mako and Coles did against France which was an obstruction, check it out. Care was let down by his inside man and just didn't know who to go for. Pretty big ask for a 10 to cover 2 forwards. As for Norths try I see these all the time in Super rugby, right on the edge flat as possible.

This was a pretty good game to watch overall... ugly first 60 minutes if you're a Wales fan and a horrible final 20 minutes if you're an England fan. I would say that Wales' "bad performance" at the beginning was more due to an old, predictable game plan being used that almost every defence in the world knows how to defend against. The main thing England need to approach on is their finishing, I thought they would've learned against Ireland but nope, they still struggle with scoring unless it's a clear overlap. I'll be interested in seeing how they develop once the tour to Australia comes around... which won't be easy at all. Maybe it's too early for us to snag a win over there? Still, I would like to say that this is a wake-up call for Wales, but as long as Gatland's still head coach, it's just gonna be the exact same thing for them over and over again. The last 20 minutes showed what he could really unleash with that squad had he actually tried to evolve his game plan, but if he doesn't do it quickly then the All Blacks are only gonna bear more pressure on him to change things up come the summer tours.

+Dan V Time for Gatland to go ..He looks bored now it's just a pay packet for him . I mean who would play a guy like alex cuthbert the whole country knows this guy is AWFUL can't tackle catch a ball or defend , we were playing with 14 men not 15 must be so disheartening for the other players , we need hook on the team but like a lot of the old players Gatland pissed him off too ..
@rjonesbeau1
@rjonesbeau1 8 жыл бұрын
+MrDirtytricksss Hook isn't in the squad because for the last 4-5 years he's been very average for Wales. In 2010 he was Wales' best player but since then he has done hardly anything when given the chance. We should be looking forward to younger players like Tyler Morgan rather than looking at Hook. Hook isn't in the team because he's had plenty of chances under Gatland and has NEVER been able to hold down one position. Whilst I agree, Cuthbert has also had a lot of chances and arguably got away with it, much can be said of Hook. I don't think Gatland had forgiven him for under-performing when we needed him at the 2011 World Cup. Out of interest, what 'older' players has Gatland pissed off? That seems like a pretty meaningless statement to me.

If north hadn't been called as in touch then rhys webb would have scored.....Putting the final score as 26/28-25 to wales. So if North wasn't in touch and Wales would have scored 4 try's when england only scored 1...how exactly did the better team win? The only reason england "won" was because they were GIFTED 18 points in penatlies when wales received NONE! even though England's scrummaging and play at the break down clearly infringed upon the rules repeatedly....the true victors in 2016 and in 2017 were wales. Sorry to burst your bubble. Anyone who knows the rules of the game would know that wales have outplayed england for two years on the trot and always had it stolen. The only victory england have had over wales since the world cup...was the summer warm up game. Other than that it's three wins for wales i'm afraid.

proof is in the pudding my friend...if you are too afraid to review the footage with a pen and paper and a rule book then i'm afraid you have no right to make insults. The footage is clearly available and north was 100% not in touch, Webb was 100% in for the try and unless mathematics have changed, his try would have put wales ahead by 1-3 points
@ragerancher
@ragerancher 7 жыл бұрын
Proof is that England beat Wales. I notice you ignore the fact Faletau's try was illegal, ignore Wales didn't get a yellow for repeated infringements when they should have, ignore that Cole should have got the try and ignore that 4 English defenders were between Webb and the try line. You Welsh love to massage the score in your favour whilst ignoring everything that went against the opposition. Then you have other times when we had Attwood's try denied and Faletau getting an illegal try in the first few minutes, on aggregate Wales have had about 5 try decisions in their favour since 2013. Funny isn't it thought, if England did the same and claimed we basically won in the world cup by doing ifs and buts, you would be the first to say we just just accept it. Hypocritical.

+Will Jones that wasn't referred to the video ref, the Francis incident was deliberately looked at and deemed as foul play and contact with the eyes if seen as deliberate is a red card offence. The fact that the tmo and Joubert both agreed that it was foul play and a penalty was given to England for it tells us that it must have been deliberate. Mention of Marlers punch didn't come until after the match so Joubert could do nothing about something he hasn't seen.

England completely deserved it although given better officiating i think Wales would have won but they would clearly be undeserved winners. Craig Joubert has another shocker of an evening officiating. It's a shame, he used do be a decent ref and now he can't seem to string together two good games in a row. tldr, Wales probably should have won and would have with a better group of refs but if they had have won it would have been the biggest heist in history since they would have been severely undeserving of the win

I know there aren't many of them, much of the rugby team was born in England. Personally I like the place, I like the rugby team. They had a shit summer mind, they lost to an under strength English team and NZ, three times. Wales, it's like Cornwall.

The performance of the referee and (by definition) his two linesmen AND the TMO in this match were simply appalling; and openly biased toward the home team. This is not acceptable in an international game of rugby. For the officials to determine the outcome of a game is poor; for the decisions to prove to be false is wrong; for it to be repeated on several major occasions (WCF 2011, QF 2015) is a trend.

I said the same thing buht. Even when they called him to be out, the throw in wasn't even straight.

+Poppy Newman You can´t blame the TMO in that situation. The touch Judge inexplicably raised his flag in a situation where, if in doubt (there was no doubt, North was inside the field), he should let play go on and if Wales score, then the TMO can have a look.

+RhysE_Fifa R.S Never mind the throw, how about England putting the ball in the scrums directly in front of their back row?

Wales DID NOT lose to "England", they lost to the clock! Another five minutes and Wales would have been victorious. "England" do not deserve to claim credit for beating Wales, so should be stripped of their Six Nations title, and their (undeserved) "grand slam".

+William Denton The touch judge lost them the game. George North was not out, Webb instead of stopping after he went through, should have put the ball down and called the TMO in.

Have you heard Shaun Edwards latest about the differentials of scoring points. It was bound to come. Every time they lose to Eng there is some pathetic excuse that penalties should be less and tries more. it was the same in 1980. And guess who won? It's justified that his Granny can't understand it, either. The worst losers in the world.
