This indeed has the whole Beatles "Sgt. Peppers" side 2 vibe going on. It's funny that I've always liked this song, but only remember ever knowing "The Carpenters" version. And, it really was way beyond the norm for Karen & Richard Carpenter to take such a massive leap from their regular Muzak style.

@@aamantium1 Yeah as the hope becomes more and more bleak it just pisses me off to no end. I've had good shows canceled by Netflix before (Santa Clarita Diet) but with Mindhunter they had dragged the "maybe" out so long, Fincher seemed to barely want to fight for us, and now they come out and act like the cancellation was bound to happen all along saying "well the show was expensive, didn't have enough of a following, yadda yadda" despite the show constantly being in the Netflix trending section to this very day. Netflix can't afford to lose good shows like this given the fact that HBO is killing it with their exclusives right now. Idk how they can let this stand when true crime is as popular as it's ever been
@aamantium1 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't get it. Everyone loved the Dahmer movie and that was done very similar to Mind Hunter. It seems they could have ridden that wave a little bit and committed to another season, or even 6 more episodes at minimum. Part of me thinks that they want people to itch for a return, just to announce a movie (which I think is a piss poor idea).

Yes the rumor that Klaatu were the Beatles made me buy their first album. I knew immediately they weren’t but I loved this album and their follow-up album HOPE. Klaatu released 4 studio albums: 3:47 EST, Hope, Sir Army Suit, and Endangered Species, plus a greatest hits album called Magentalane which included a song called December Dream dedicated in memory of John Lennon. If you haven’t heard much of their music you really need to listen to their first two albums in full. Pretty damn good and very very creative.

In 1976 a rumor started circulating in the United States that the Beatles had recorded and released a new album under the pseudonym of "Klaatu" and sales of that record shot way up. What were the clues that made people think that THIS album was the Beatles? 1. The record was on Capitol records, the American record company that had released most of the Beatles' records in the US. 2. The record had no names of band members listed on it anywhere. 3. The record had no producer name on it anywhere. It simply said, "Produced by Klaatu." 4. The record had no songwriter credits other than simply, "All selections composed by Klaatu."

5. The cover of Ringo Starr's then-current album "Goodbye Vienna" had Ringo standing next to KLAATU, a character from the movie, "The Day the Earth Stood still". 6. At some Wings concerts, Paul would close by saying "See you when the earth stands still".

It deserves its own praise, it's amazing music that can make anyone happy in the darkest times, I mean, just listen to "we're off" and you'll get what I mean. The Carpenters version of this was corny compared to this original, they added choirs and dubbed lots of fluff, so that it sounded more like an advertisement for 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' which was popular at the time. Klaatu is Canadian, went to see them in Ottawa in 1981, it was sensational, they do sound a bit like the Beatles during their Magical Mystery phase, especially with the fantasy nature of the lyrics and sound effects.

I read about the rumours and didn't really think they made sense. But after listening to it for the first time in several decades I can totally see it. This has very much of a Jeff Lynne feel to it. If somebody told me this was the flip side of "Free as a Bird" I could easily believe it.

The piano work here reminds me of some Chicago tracks.

"We are your friends" Yeah, right. ;-) Actually, this is just one example of the excellent music that came out of the '70s.
