You don't need a working OS to write a fresh OS. Ensure you are connected via ethernet, remove all bootable media and turn on, on the initial boot screen hold down shift and it will download and run imager. This is based on the eeprom being upto date which on a new board should already be done.

It can be that the new pi sd cards are with a new hardware for booting the System. The SD Organization announced it a year ago or so. Because booting a system fast was not really so good in terms of speed and the lifespan for the sd. So they make a sperate chips or so for booting system. But there was a ton more what is involved, but I can't remember. Thanks for the Video 😎😎😎‼️‼️‼️

I like your micro sd card storage containers ( I remember when you created 3D printed them), but how do you label them? Do you have some sort of system to distinguish what’s on each one!? I slot all my micro sd cards into the ssd card adapter and write what’s installed on that (defeats the purpose of maximising space, but I can’t write that small on an actual micro sd)

I tested a Samsung Evo Select A2, Amazon Basics A2 and a Microcenter Performance A2, non of them supported command queuing. Because of the way some of these cards are manufactured, the larger cards can have a speed advantage. Back in the early days you might get a 32gb with a single "memory chip" where the 64gb version might have a pair inside the epoxy covering giving the ability to stripe the two "chips" together and get faster speed. Not sure if these modern cards are built this way. Panasonic P2 media did this a long time ago to get the speeds fast enough and big enough for video recording.

@@Maulana_rhodes Theoretically, yes, and in reality too... most of the time. But it's not just about the NVME drives (older ones were slower than modern ones), the hardware it interfaces with is important too. A bit like plugging a USB 3.x memory stick into a USB 2.0 port won't give you USB 3 speeds, or putting a really powerful GPU in a slow PCI-E x1 slot won't make your games run well. So maybe "Almost always". 😉
