For most RAF pilots serving between 1960 and 1988, the Hunting Aircraft (BAC) Jet Provost is extremely familiar. Forming the backbone of RAF pilot training during this period, the Jet Provost was distinctive by its broad fuselage profile, which allowed for a relatively spacious side-by-side cockpit arrangement.

I've sat in the cockpit of a Provost. A school trip to RAF Little Rissington, Oxon. 1968, I was 11. Unfortunately the cloud was 'on the deck', so we we couldn't see the Red Arrows flying them. A a film of them training instead. My mates were digging me on to pull the handle for the ejector seat, needles to say, I'm still here, lol 🤣. Great looking kit. I'm after one for posterity. 👍👍👍🇬🇧

The Red Arrows never flew Provosts, they flew Gnats. The aerobatic team that used Provosts were 'The Pelicans'.

@@uingaeoc3905 It was definitely Provosts at Rissington on that occasion. Perhaps not for the Arrows. What did the Arrows fly before?

Seems a very simple but well detailed kit, if I'm not wrong , from the Provost was derivated the Strikemaster, perhaps so Airfix could make with some additional sprue a new model.

Strikemaster has a different fuselage. The Jet Provost was derived from the Percival Provost piston prop trainer - it would be nice to have one of those too.

I really love the new airfix but replacement parts are not a good experience so far. I bought the Airfix Lancaster Dam Buster but it had no clear parts. How do I contact Airfix to get these parts.

Hi I had a similar problem with a dhc beaver, airfix have a section on their website for replacement parts, I eventually got them after a lot of e mails ,but they tried to advise me to take it back to the place I bought it from , took ages for them to come ,felt as if airfix could nt b bothered , hope you get them soon

As much as i love Airfix - these videos are not done very professionally. Just look how the open box with the loose sprues is presented. The lighting is awful. The new Provost schemes however are gorgeous :)
