Welcome to Pentatonix - you're in for a ride! This cover is so amazing, and yes - the signs described the members of the group. In order of the solos: - Avi: beard and long hair. Bass singer known for blowing out speakers at concerts. He was in the group from the start till late 2017, when he left for personal reasons. No drama around it and he's still friends with the rest of the group. He even helped find their new bass singer: Matt - you'll see him in all videos from 2018 till the present. - Scott: tall, blonde guy. Baritone with an incredible vocal range - he covers the bass when Avi/Matt has the lead, but also sings very high. Master of riffs and runs! - Mitch: shorter guy with the high voice. He's a counter tenor, so he can sing very high indeed. He changes his look A LOT! So even when you think he isn't in a PTX video - he is! Him and Scott also have another project together: Superfruit. They released an album a while back - not acapella and definitely less family friendly than PTX. - Kirstin: mezzo soprano. She, Mitch and Scott have known each other since they were about 10 years old, and they are the main singers of PTX. Just like Mitch, she changes her look all the time. - Kevin or K.O.: the groups beatboxer. but as in this song, he also has lead parts from time to time. He also plays the cello in a few of their songs - including Papaoutai, which you mentioned.

yay ptx!!! such a talented group. i love what they stand for, they've always been advocates of equal rights and diversity. idk if you knew or not, but the signs theyre holding celebrate both the similarities and differences between them- mitch and scott are both openly gay, avi is jewish, kevin and kirstin are both christian, kirstin is a latina woman, etc. but at the end of the day, they all come together as one :) mitch (high voice dude), scott (blonde dude) and kirstin have been friends since they were little, they were the original members of the group. then they brought kevin (beatboxer) and avi (bass singer) in for the Sing Off. avi left the group a while ago due to personal circumstances, now their new bass singer is Matt Sallee who you'll see in newer videos. ive been to their concert and can confirm they dont use autotune- they sound just as good live, its crazy. you should check out their cover of bohemian rhapsody :)

Hope your in for the long haul because they have over 100 official videos and many more interviews and live performances that will be requested. They have won three Grammy Awards. The first for their Daft Punk Medley, the second for their arrangement of Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy, crazy since their are no words to the song, and the third was for their collaboration with Dolly Parton and her song Jolene.

I cried like a baby when this came out in March of 2017. This came out right after the horror of the Muslim ban in the US February of 2017 when the first real glimpse into the dystopia of the Trump administration was coming into focus. They've changed the description box in this video from when it first came out. But it was a beautifully written description about how they came together and used their diverse voices and talents to create harmony. Nobody wants to get political, but it's pretty hard these days. But as you might be able to tell, I am a huge PTX fan, a Pentaholic. They are incredibly talented, but their personalities are a big reason why I am a super fan. They are truly good and caring people. Both Mitch and Kirstie (rhymes with thirsty by the way) have been in the BLM protests. Kirstie was even hit by a police baton just for standing with her sign. Kevin, the beat boxer, gave a heart felt talk about his experience as a child of immigrants from Nigeria and Grenada. He's also a genius by the way. As you watch his videos, his beat boxing skills are unbelievable. But just more FYI, he had just finished is bachelor's degree from Yale when he got a call from Scott about beat boxing for the show. Kevin was on his way to go to medical school! His father and brother are doctors. As a teen, he performed at Carnegie Hall on his saxophone, his cello skills were commented on by Yo-Yo Ma and he is fluent in Chinese having studied there. Genius. PTX pretty much stayed out of politics and even LGBTQ statements as Pentatonix until 2017. PTX has been purposely nonconfrontational. But Mitch has never hidden the fact that he is gay. Scott had been very private about it at the start of PTX but is now in the open about it and in a stable relationship with a lovely gent named Mark. Sorry for the ramble. Caught me on the wrong day. LOL Anyway, welcome to the beautiful world of Pentatonix. It really helps daily life.

Honestly... start with the songs they won Grammys for. It's the easiest way in. Because their catalog is HUGE and virtually all of it is near perfect. So you have to start somewhere. It's a good spread too because it includes one rock medley (Daft Punk), one Christmas song (Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy), and one celebrity guest star performance (Jolene, a remake actually done along with the original artist, Dolly Parton). Then from that you can branch out to stuff like Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody, Gold, Cheerleader, Evolution of Music...)

If you decide to really dig into PTX, you should watch their SingOff performances. (On your point re: reality shows -- you are missing out! So many performance shows are super supportive, most do NOT go the American Idol direction. I wouldn't call them auditions so much as incubators.) One thing you should know is that the lineup does not change, with the exception of Avi being replaced by Matt. Mitch & Kirsty (rhymes with thirsty) are chameleons, and people sometimes think there are lineup changes & get thrown off.

From left to right you have Mitch, then Scott (they have been friends along with Kirsten since they were kids. They have a side project together (inactive for a while because of how huge PTX has gotten) here on KZbin called Superfruit. It's a lot of typical youtuber type videos but they also have music and even a official album there. You should DEFINITELY check that out sometime too. Hip-hop goes Broadway 1&2 and Defying Gravity is a fun place to start, and Bad For Us and Guy.exe for originals. Next is Avi, he's the bass (they all have insane range, but it's the typical role he plays in the group). He's actually not in the group anymore. He left in 2017 on great terms to be able to spend time with family. Since then he's released some excellent solo work you should check out. Change on the Rise is a great place to start there. In newer videos you'll meet Matt who is now the bass. He's excellent as well. Next is the beatboxer, Kevin. He's. Just. Phenomenal. Not even just with beatboxing. He's also a cellist and does something he calls celloboxing. He has some solo work as well you have to see. I recommend is cover of Sign of the Times. Next is Kirsten. She's also amazing, obviously, but I don't have any side project info, though I think I saw recently that she has some. I still need to check it out. PTX have a lot of covers because that's where they started, but have since put out plenty of original songs as well. Everything they do is just fantastic. As far as covers go for you to check out next I recommend Bohemian Rhapsody and Hallelujah. For originals I'm going to go with Run to You and Can't Sleep Love for now.

Agreed. I love when reactors do this but they hardly ever do. I think I've only seen someone do it twice. I think there are so many songs from a lot of artists that this would be a great format for (official recording/video and then a live performance) because how often do you do both in separate videos? It's usually one or the other, and while they're both usually great, you're always going to miss out on something and then we miss out on seeing you react to it. I feel this way a lot about Billie Eilish songs because her live performances are so insanely good, but some of my favorite parts of the official recordings are the cool sounds and samples they use that you usually don't get live.

Just a note in case no one has said it yet. Their bass in this video (Avi Kaplan with the beard) left the group in 2017 (on good terms) for personal reasons. Matt, who you mentioned from the wiki article, joined to replace him. All other members of the group have stayed the same the whole time. So you may see Matt in some of the videos. Mitch and Kirstie (rhymes with thirsty) change their looks A LOT but I promise they are the same throughout. :) I would love to see you react to Daft Punk next, but there are so many great PTX videos that you really can't go wrong.

Ooof... best prepare yourself man. I honestly have never known a more fierce fan base then pentatonix fans. Although, if you want your channel to grow this is certainly the fastest way. Most importantly though, their covers and originals will be the absolute best you’ve ever heard. Side note: Nothing wrong with pausing to comment/compliment/critic. However, I HIGHLY suggest that when you do, you rewind 5 seconds or so before you play again. Pausing often kills the flow or buildup of energy, so rewinding will allow you to catch things you may have missed or recapture the flow. Believe me, this will spare you a great deal of grief. Ptx fans are hardcore, so take my word I will not be the only one to suggest this. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for reacting I absolutely loved their cover of this! The guy with the bear and the low notes is Avi who actually left the group about 3 years ago I think and was replaced by another man named Matt. They are absolutely amazing live and you can see from watching any of their videos that they all have pure talent, occasionally Kevin plays the cello in a few videos but I think that's very rare! If you like Disney you should watch this guy Jon Cozart after ever after, it tells the stories of some popular fairytales after it ended and its all acapella. It's quite funny. Thank you for pronouncing my name right :) Can you please react to: Christina Grimmie Kurt Hugo Schneider (he remakes songs without hearing them first it's really cool) Oh Wonder Pan!c at the Disco Saint Sister (an Irish duo I especially recommend Is it too early, Causing Trouble, Madrid or Tin Man) Alt-J (Taro, Bloodflood part 2) Daughter Caravan Palace Walking on Cars (Irish group, Speeding cars or don't mind me ) Oliver Riot Like I know you cant react to all of these but it would be awesome if you could listen to one or 2 of them even in your own time :) If you ever want to give Irish trad mixed with modern music listen to Notify - Vividity of In continuum. Just thought I'd throw all my requests in at once, also loved that you reacted to Aurora and Florence and the Machine. Love your Melanie videos too. (Sorry for the essay)

If you love harmonies, you need to listen to Pentatonix sing Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody, and finish up with Daft Punk. You won't be sorry. You'll also do yourself a favor if you listen to Pentatonix with headphones on to get the full harmonies. Definitely no autotune.

There IS music; it's made with voices, not instruments. I challenge anyone who claims Pentatonix doesn't make music.

The wall of sound. If you like A Capella, check out Amazing Grace, by PTX, or anything by Take 6.
