I'm from the 60s back in the day with Simon & Garfunkel. They recorded this song in 1964. (side note: there were NO cell phones, NO smart phones, NO computers)... and yet Simon wrote "10,000 people maybe more, people talking without speaking"... we DO THAT NOW when we text on our smart phones!

I have always loved this song being around when it was first released by Simon & Garfunkel. I have heard the version by Disturbed and there is also a really good cover of it by Peter Hollens and Tim Foust that you really need to listen to because it is a really good a Capella performance. That being said, PTX blows them all out of the water. It always amazes me what those 5 people can do with just their voices (and Kevin, of course).

I put this on a level that Hallelujah is on. I do have a different visual in my head for this one, but it's okay. The wardrobe is spectacular! The arrangement beautiful, as was their delivery! I loved Scott singing in his lower register! It was a great way to start it! And not a single run in his solo! No riffs! Maybe they felt this message was so important that vocal acrobatics would distract? I know I like how it turned out! Mitch. I love how pure, and full Mitch's lower register has become! I loved his diction on a couple of key words. I felt like he made a good choice pronouncing every bit of those words with deliberate precision. Also, no vocal acrobatics from Mitch, which I think fit the arrangement well, and didn't distract me from the message of the song. Matt... Wow! I feel like he poured every bit of emotion into his performance, ramping the intensity up as he went! He did an amazing job with this one! And... Matt's delivery gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes. Bravo Matt! I loved his opening of Sweater Weather" but this is next level for me! Kirstin? Lower register! She's been working on her lower register too and does she ever sound beautiful!! I love what she's been doing with her range and her solo performances since "Kinky Boots" She took something fabulous away from her time speant on Broadway! What I can't understand is WHY was this video never trending? It makes no sense,.. unless it's loss of fan support due to Avi's departure. I miss the full Pentaholic frenzy and sheer delight we all shared over new releases! I hope everyone comes back, cause they're slaying it and they need the support of their fans. Since the extremely talented, humble and star-struck Matt Sallee has joined the group he hasn't gotten to be part of that overwhelming success Pentatonix was enjoying before Avi left them.😢 They're all working so hard and trying to keep the music alive. And they've done great new things that keeps raising the bar! But no awards. No records broken. Invitations to perform at awards shows have dried up, and new music is debuting on the Billboard charts lower than any previous records they've released. 😓 Ironically, they are releasing amazing, new sounds and excellent arrangements! I LOVE the mashup they did in concert with "Cracked" and "Natural Disaster"! And they're originals no less! Love it! I would love to have them release that mashup as a single! It's such a bop! bye guys! TY for reacting! ❤️

Oh, it's so sad that she not only doesn't know this song, but that she doesn't know who S&G were. Geez - play "The Boxer" or "I Am a Rock" for her. Or "Dangling Conversation", or "Homeward Bound" .... Paul Simon was/is one of the greatest poet-song writers of the past 60 years. It's great that PTX is showing them respect with this cover. Hey guys, awesome nice reaction..just always wondering how many "reaction duos" each share one ear of the headphones. In case of stereo recordings, which became possible decades ago, I have to assume that none of you can REALLy hear the song optimally. So I would suggest a $1 splitter and a $2 extra headphone and a mic routed to both next to using the original vid. It would improve your judgement maybe, but your joy of listening surelly!! PLEASE do it! This PTX song is the BEST I heard for a long time in a capella en will be in my top 10 for the whole 2019 I reckon:p

I love this version of Sound of Silence, but if she like this, Disturbed's video will shake her... He finds a way to make the song's impact so much deeper. I'm a HUGE PTX fan and usually think their covers are best, but in this case I have to give the nod to Disturbed.

Ok I have to say I love this video but one thing I have noticed is that every reaction video I have seen to this is all about the sound and how absolutely beautiful it is. (I agree ) That being said no one ever talks about the lyrics of the song :) Just my opinion but the lyrics say being silent when you see a wrong is just as bad as committing the wrong yourself. It's LESS than 50% of the performance. Half the sound, but also a total loss of any sense of aural movement or isolated sounds only present on one side. Computer speakers are actually a better option than one earbud, as bad as they are.
