I just love watching through these. They give me inspiration to sometimes go beyond aircraft.

Superb result for a strater kit. Really glad you talked about using the the square brushes. Such a superior solution for painting the broad flat areas.

Great video. Coming back to the hobby after decades. I am going to try this kit. Thank you!

Great job, but I would say that the primer, 7mm flat brush and precision cement aren't in the starter set...

Fully agree Gary. This video's a bit of a cheat/disappointment in my view because of the use of specialist modeller items not in the box. You and Mann's Models do a much better job of showing how it is in real life for the beginner.

Thank you. I've never built ships before only aircraft. It has inspired me to do one. This is a beautiful model.

With regards to the precision glue applicator; care has to be taken as glue can settle and set inside the metal tube. The guy who owns my local model shop, Scoonie Hobbies in Kirkcaldy, taught me the trick of holding a lighter to the side of the metal tube and gently pressing the bottle. This ignites the glue in the tube and the tube is cleared, caution needs to be taken as a small flame, lighter size, will come out of the end of the tube.

I bought and built this set and using only the supplied paint , glue and brush and found that the sprues could have used cleaning as my brushed on paint had a hard time adhereing possibly due to mold release film?also got it at aldi for £2

We always recommend a quick soapy-water clean and perhaps a light primer coat before painting.

But it's not an Airfix build until you personalize it with a gluey finger print somewhere prominent on the surface!

I have a question. When buying a airfix starter set, is the tools and paint free or you have to buy it at the same store on where you buy the model? Thanks broo

The kit includes a small tube of cement, a small brush and 4 small pots of acrylic paint. Not included - the snips used to cut parts from the sprue, craft knife, flat brushes, acrylic primer spray paint, the needle-nosed cement. However, it's a simple kit and the only things you really need to supply are nail scissors or a craft knife to cut the parts off the sprue, some fine sandpaper or a nail file or emery board. Priming is nice, but not essential. It'll take a bit longer to paint the model using only the small brush provided, but it's perfectly possible. Several modellers have posted similar build videos of this kit on YT. Search for "airfix mary rose starter kit" to find them. The build on Gary's Stuff is simple and uses very little that's not provided in the box. It's also not too long a video. (18 mins) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJe8fIOclLiZmLc

I would strongly advise that the lower gun deck be shuttered closed. Otherwise you might have an unfortunated accident. 😊😊😊

Starter set, so why do you need to use other paints and brushes, show how it can be done with what is in the box.........
@fuzonzord930113 күн бұрын
Yeah. These "starter sets" are pointless and misleading.
