I saw Derren live about 10-11 years ago and he's an amazing showman, 99% of it was baffling. I highly recommend seeing one of his live shows. He did something right at the end of the show(which I can't remember now) and when the curtains close written on the curtains was something that basically tricked the whole audience. Good stuff.

A friend of mine worked as a sound engineer at a theatre in NW England. His theatre was hired by a Psychic and he was also hired for the evening and required to sign a 'confidentiality agreement' not to discuss the event with anyone. He soon found out why. The Psychic arrived with half a dozen staff whose job was to listen into audience conversations in the queue and in the bar beforehand and find out as much information as possible to feed to the Psychic via sophisticated radio mics and an ear piece before, during and at the interval i e woman, red dress, third row lost her husband Harry last year and wants to know if he forgives her for an affair she had with a work colleague called Geoff when she worked as a secretary.... The poor lady had talked about it in the bar with her friends.

It's easy to do, might be why they have a bar before the show. As well as softening people up with drink, anyone who comes to a show is going to chat about the dead people they hope that bullshitter will be able to contact. You wouldn't even need a radio mic, just a consultation with your spies beforehand, but a mic means you don't have to bother remembering. There are some really small and discrete earpieces. You can get hearing aids that fit invisibly into the ear, with Bluetooth for your phone. So to use some other radio channel isn't difficult. Or else wear a combo radio receiver / Bluetooth transmitter in a pocket.

Which inevitably means they will be at least manipulative and predatory in some way to people. However, Sadism and socio/psychopathy are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they are quite often in congruence with each other. Although, an interesting counterpoint to the commonality of sadism and psychopathy is that sadists derive pleasure from from the agony of others. Psychopaths are incapable of the empathy necessary to understand the pain that person is experiencing. Or to be even more specific, psychopaths actually do have the capability to empathize. If say, as an intellectual exercise they put themselves in another's shoes. However, this form of empathy is not innate, and therefore psychopaths typically are void of said empathy. Lack of remorse is a commonality with all three terms. Lastly, the difference between the definition of socio/psychopath is semantically complicated. Sociopaths are a lesser psychopath. So all psychopaths are sociopaths, but not vice versa. Sociopaths are, from my understanding, specifically people with anti-social disorder. This is why I love derren brown. He's not trying to be fake. He is genuine and authentic. And that's what makes it so fascinating. They make a pact that if there's an afterlife they'll make contact. And the living sisters will know the dead sister still exists and they'll be together in the afterlife. Christien Sebastien that's why they get angry. They will be exposed as frauds if they do the test. Anyone telling the truth would gladly agree to the testing but if the frauds do the testing they will be found out.
