All three seasons of Afterlife are brilliant....The show is a rollercoaster of emotions, I laughed and cried often, the show is a masterpiece in my opinion.

⁠@@MrCostaCSo, what you’re saying is, you’re a big fan of RG and have very high expectations of him to improve on every show he does, as in pens, stars in, produces, and directs. RG would be flattered, but I think we’d all agree that a continuously upward trajectory is nigh on impossible. But hell, every genius has his critics, and sometimes the critic has a point. RG knows expectations are always high and building characters is a risky business. We collectively gloss over those very occasional moments of blunt-force sentiments. RG has an uncanny knack of producing material sappy enough to trigger our empathy responses one minute, before tickling us into laughter at some absurdity the next. But “uncanny” doesn’t mean he gets it right 100% of the time for 100% of his fans. So I wonder if, after a few convivial pints at his home in Hampstead, London, he would just tell you to fuuuuck offf in that mocking voice of his, and you’d reward his candour with a fit of the giggles.

His ability to mix comedy with some tough subjects is second to none. He will either have you crying with laughter or sadness and in some things both.

I think it’d be a laugh working on a show like this, The Office, or Extras with Ricky. You probably get a workout and feel sore by the end of the day from laughing so much 😂 Imagine not only doing that, for A JOB, but also getting paid decently well (really decently depending on your experience). Those names they're reeling off (Harold Shitmum, Michael Parkinbum etc) always crack me up. I don't blame you for not understanding them. They're playing on the names of iconic/infamous British figures, known for good and bad things. I suppose it's sort of the equivalent for American audiences of using Elizabeth Banks name and saying Elizabeth Wanks, or Wolfgang Puck as Wolfbang Fuck, but of course to an even dirtier degree.

But as usual, he's always the instigator of the carnage and even when he's not in a scene, you cam hear him giggling in the background when he's supposed to be directing or producing lol. Hilarious

The hairy guy is David Earl, brilliant comedian. He was Kev in Derek, the hopeless drunk. All his lines are improv, other than a rough direction for the scenes, Ricky lets him do it himself. Same with Joe Wilkinson the other hairy dude. David and Joe have a great podcast called Chatabix, they're very good friends and do a lot of writing together and have done a few sitcoms together.
