Okay. You feel sympathy. I get that. You’re a functioning human being. But if you put it in perspective - you’re feeling sympathetic for a group of people who had everything handed to them and used that freedom to create their own downturn in popularity. These is no one to blame but those who are in charge. This unpopularity is of their own doing. It’s all right there in Kenny’s promo; the “smorgasbord” ideology vs. the “make it feel real” school of pro-wrestling. Celebrating the performance vs protecting the realism. That’s the dividing line right there. The first is not drawing money and undermines the other. The second is drawing money but isn’t as instantly flashy as the first. The two can’t coexist. They are diametrically opposed. The second leads to CM Punk’s feuds, MJF’s heat, and FTR kicking ass. The first leads to passive-aggressive promos where the fans are trained to cheer at being compared to shitting pets. My sympathy for these guys is gone. They are in charge and playing a dirty game of undermining others because they believe their ideology is correct even though the numbers say differently. They’re supposed to be EVPs. That’s a business term. Are they making money? Are they growing the business? Or are they using their power to promote a fake reality? You can’t insist that customers give you their money. You have to entertain them. And they aren’t and also aren’t taking responsibility for that failure.

From watching the promo (if it can be called that) and hearing Jim Cornette's reaction, I couldn't help but think "Kenny Omega doesn't need to be in a wrestling ring or even wrestling" if he's having to do four sessions of physical rehab daily. If Kenny Omega cares about AEW (like he is claiming to do with 'leaving a legacy'), then he wouldn't wrestle and would work on fixing what's falling apart in AEW. Right now, at the rate things are going, 2024 will be the last year AEW will be around or even a viable "Number Two" promotion to WWE. WWE is starting to fix what's broken within the last several weeks (funny how Vince McMahon not being involved in creative does wonders) and it wouldn't shock me if a lot of the ex-WWE guys on AEW eventually go back to WWE (like Malakai Black, Miro, Andrade, even Keith Lee or Swerve Strickland) or "AEW homegrown" (like MJF and maybe Darby Allin) go to WWE.
@alexanderbakulin88362 жыл бұрын
I've watched the last Smackdown, and i don't see how WWE is fixing anything. It became even worse than i remember. There were 3 wrestling matches on the show, two of them were women's matches (with some random girls from NXT), another match was a 5 men clusterf-ck (with Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin and other goofs). The main event match of the program was Liv Morgan vs. some girl with a green hair, it's beyond ridiculous. The problem with WWE is that they have very little wresting on the wrestling show, there's mostly bad promos and horrible angles. I hate AEW, but AEW got a lot better weekly shows, at least there's some wrestling in it. Although, i prefer WWE PPV's

They claim not to be a "parody" or "tribute act," but they literally took their group's name from what Russo was gonna call Shawn and Hunter's group before Phil Mushnick came up with something better. I want both parties to lose this one, but if someone has to win, I guess Punk, et al. would be better for the company overall. The child wrestler (isn't odd that Andrade's push died not long after he brought that up?) and Great Value Hardy Boys's attitude towards wrestling is the biggest detriment to that company.

I love crapping on Meltzer for being a sellout shill and I’m a “sperg” as you’d put it. That term and Autist are about as funny as crib death, as current as 2014, and about as relevant as Cutlet. That star system was actually Weasel Doolie’s and Jim Cornette’s idea (they once were Dave’s friends/sources, and gave him their idea for the Observer), but like typical republicans (and like Republican Russo did with Stone Cold and The Rock), Demented Dave Dipshit took credit for it with a whole Fox “News”documentary’s worth of revisionist history, and then warped it into a Cucamonga Cock Jerk rating system.

I'm sure Uncle Dave was crying and went through his entire box of tissues during the match and this speech, and the tissues were not to wipe his tears. If Omega was a serious "wrestler" and really cared about the business and all the pain and rehab he would have told Tony, that he wasn't doing this match tonight. The problem is we know that is bullshit because he's a mark for himself. He wants the star ratings, he wants the attention, he wanted to come out injured so the fans could cheer him like they did Cody at Hell in the Cell. Tony and the Bucks pushed him to do it because they didn't get that moment and they need it, they need the attention. All any of this did was make Omega look like a fool, nearly injured himself, Dragon Lee, and even possibly some members of the audience. If Tony was a smart intelligent booker, he have had the Bucks have a third partner like Cutlet, or hell knowing the Bucks have them do the Trios tournament on their own until the Finals. I mean we know they are winning anyway. Then before the Finals, have Cultet get injured, and announce they'd have a special partner. Then you have Omega return. It would have given him a couple extra weeks to heal up... if he wants to take this business seriously and they could have sold more tickets to the PPV. Instead, this was another predictable, throw-away Elite match on TV that LOST ratings.

In fact, everyone usually comes out looking worse. He hasn't done anything worthwhile or relevant in the past dozen years, and he's simply bought into his old WCW gimmick of a wannabe rockstar, except he actually believes it now. They've got a good core group of legitimately trained wrestlers now, mostly WWE veterans and cast-offs, but they're also still drowning in indy trash that was never ready for public audiences, let alone prime-time television on a major network. If they'd get rid of the scrubs and get a competent booker and/or writing staff, they could probably actually grow their brand and audience for a change, rather than doing a poorly executed parody/tribute of the worst of WWE/WCW/TNA/etc., then they'd really have something worth celebrating, but until they do, they're simply going to remain a niche product that's only enjoyed by a very small, specific, select group of people with INCREDIBLY low standards.
