What's sad is with AEW around people still love talking TNA, that says it all! So the KOTM match, reverse battle royal, Dixie's lazy reye or whatever they want to say about her, you're still talking about TNA. So Dixie obviously did something right.

The King of the Mountain match is overly complicated, but its a pretty entertaining match. I would change it from hanging the belt to taking the belt down, but I think the whole earning eligibility with pinfall or submission angle is an interesting tweak on the multi-man ladder match.

I could see the removing eligibility too. Just have whoever gets their hands on the belt climb up. And if there's a disputed finish, so be it. The two wrestlers in question can just go at it another match. Not like they really have much better to do.

My honest opinion: Some things worked with Vince Russo and some things didn't.. One thing I do agree with Vince Russo on is that young talent should always be given a chance to be pushed and I heavily agree with that one.. No need for wrestlers(not managers) who are passed their primes burying young talents constantly not putting them over.. Pass the damn torch man.. Older Managers should always be apart of the business cause they can help groom talents into wrestlers and teach young talents about in-ring psychology or be the mouthpiece to a young talent who has 90% of everything except the mic skills..

Get your point. My honest opinion is the biggest Reason why "young" talent isn't getting over huge is Fans themselves, especially the idiotic SMARK IWC hypocrite type ones. Example: every single NXT guy that was champion there automatically just runs through the entire main roster and is made champ right away. When they do something close to that, SMARKS SCREAM THE GUY DIDN'T DESERVE PUSH Ex 2: guy comes up from NXT and instead is put into angles and storylines with established talent to get the character rolling. SMARK ASSHOLES scream they are being buried and should go to AEW. The BIGGEST problem in Pro Wrestling is arrogant self-absorbed Moron SMARKS that claim to be experts that both run, perform, attend, and especially leech off of by having their little KZbin channels. You know the ones who make lists about how "it should have been booked" or "how WE would book the next year of a promotion.

The obvious omission from ladder capers is the Interior Decorator title. Wrestlers compete to repair a trestle table which has been previously damaged by bungling amateurs, knock up a bucket of adhesive paste, skillfully synchronise a tag exchange so as to facilitate your partner holding down one end as you brush adhesive over a length of wallpaper, hang the wallpaper on an improvised hoarding, repeat until said hoarding is covered to a reasonable standard, thus qualifying you to climb a step ladder and adorn yourself with a chandelier which is hanging from a rafter.

@@ASCUMBAGWh0re Lol. No worries. Jim didn't explain it here. It's just old knowledge/memories of seeing it. The worst part is that there's a decent match concept in it. The pinfall/submission stipulation before you can claim the belt has potential. The penalty box for the loser is intriguing. It's the added stipulation of having to hang the belt up yourself that makes it completely asinine. I personally think you may have a Money In The Bank/Royal Rumble alternative if it's just a straight ladder match where you need to gain a pinfall or submission before you can attempt to claim the belt but Russo just couldn't help himself.

I can appreciate trying to come up with a new kind of match for a pro wrestling show to sort of add some spice to the same old same old, but that match on paper just sounds complicated especially when it's multiple person match. At least with the Breakfast Scramble matches in the WWE back in the late 2000s (I think they were called Elimination Scramble), that match concept wasn't bad because it was basically get the pinfall or submission and make sure no one pins you until the time is up.

I personally never minded the King of the Mountain matches. Sure, it was a little odd that the wrestlers had to climb the ladder to hook the belt ONTO the cable. But i liked that you had to earn the right to do so by pinning your opponent first. Im not so sure about the wrestler getting pinned having to go into a penalty box. But having to pin him first is an interesting twist to the ladder match. Personally, I think that the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match should work in a similar fashion. Think about it. When everything is all said and done, the TLC match is just a Ladder Match with a longer name. You don't HAVE to put your opponent through a table to win a TLC match. You don't HAVE to hit your opponent with a chair to win a TLC match. All you REALLY have to do, is climb up the ladder and claim your prize. THAT'S A LADDER MATCH!!! This is how *I* would book a TLC Match. Winning the TLC Match will be a three step process. Step One: Put your opponent through a table. Step Two: Pin your opponent or make him submit INSIDE THE RING. Step Three: Climb the ladder and collect your prize. If you don't complete Step One, you can't move on to Step Two. If you haven't completed Steps One AND Two, you can't move on to Step Three. Now doesn't that sound far more interesting than a Ladder Match with a different name?

Let it go Corny….it’s been 15+ years. Russo never talks about you, except that time he told the Chainsaw Charlie story of you saying “Anyone who comes out a box is instantly over”. 😂

Sometimes I see TNA related videos on this channel and I think, “Is this before I started watching?” I started watching TNA just before Lockdown 2007. The PPV’s theme sounded cool at the time, but I was too focused on being confused about how an Electrified Cage match was supposed to go down.

Tbh a 1v1 ladder match where you have to gain a pin in order to be allowed to climb to get the belt would be an amazing idea in my eyes
@wild360
@wild360 2 жыл бұрын
Can I ask why? The person that got the pin would get the belt via ladder immediately following the pin. The drama of a ladder match has always been how either guy could get the belt at anytime, with shocking reversals of fortune at the top of the ladder.

These product-placement shills just get longer and more annoying. I understand it's the American way, and maybe I'm spoiled as a Brit, but the blatant and long-winded hard-sell is so inimicable to my ears.

How about a reverse Hell in a Cell match? The cell is lowered and the match takes place outside the cage. The winner is the first person to find a way into the cage. Better yet, reverse Elimination Chamber. Everyone starts in the ring and the objective is to throw your opponents inside the pods and lock them. The winner is the last person not in a pod. I'm having fun here. How about instead of a Falls Count Anywhere match, a Falls Count Nowhere match. Not really sure how that one works. Just fight until some drops from exhaustion? I saved the best for last. A reverse Inferno match. Both competitors start off on fire, literally, and the objective is to douse your opponent's fire to win.

I wonder how close we were to seeing a Pole on a Pole match, where the objective was to get the pole then use it to pole vault over a fence to grab the belt then hang it on the pole before planting it as a flag pole.

The only good reverse ladder match to me was the King Of The Mountain match in the late 2000s (2008 or 09). It featured Booker T, Samoa Joe, Rhyno, Christian Cage, and Robert Roode. The action in the match was good, but it would've been better WITHOUT the penalty box. Only good thing about the penalty box is you get to rest. The con is being unable to stop people. Then it became hokie when two people were locked in there punching each other. If they're gonna brawl regardless in the box (too much action to follow) just get rid of the penalty box.
