One of my favourite stories, that Adrian told on WSI recently, was how a bigger wrestler once talked down to him in the locker room, before their match, saying something like: “How am I supposed to lose to a little guy like you!” Adrian said he simply replied: “Don’t worry about it. When we get out there, I’ll show you how.” That’s such a badass comeback; I imagine it didn’t take too long, for word to spread around, that Adrian Street- while smaller than a lot of other guys, was somebody you should not fuck with. He was an absolute one-off, often imitated, but never to be repeated. It’s such a shame that he has passed away; my heart goes out to his friends & family, and particularly to the fabulous Miss Linda.

There's a really good book put out by Roger Moore called Last One Hit The Lights and it's about how he was the last man standing of a generation of Hollywood that's long gone so he had to tell a bunch of stories while he was still alive before they were lost to time. Cornette is becoming like that with each passing.

This is the tribute ive been waiting for, I grew up in blackwood south Wales(next town over from where Adrian is from) but ran into Adrian when he and his family were visiting Bath where I now live a few years ago, he picked up on the accent when he heard us talking in the pub spent an hour talking about shoot wrestling and grappling with him (I do judo and BJJ/10th planet) one of my first submission grappling instructors was actually his student the dominator). Really really cool guy, Funny thing is he's "died" twice before because twice false obituaries have been publish for him gutted this time it's real, RIP Adrian.

So saddened by Adrian Street's passing, I'm a huge fan, bought and read all of his books even based a rock act/character stage show off of his gimmick. Great man, great wrestler, beautiful personality. I owe Jim a great thanks his podcast made me pay closer attention to what was an obscure wrestler who even in Britain few know, I discovered so much brilliant material produced by Street. Legend, also he battered Jimmy Saville so he's a hero too.

Grew up in the early 80s 60 miles north of Memphis. Will never forget turning the antennae to pick up Memphis wrestling on Saturday mornings. We only had 3 channels, Channel 8 out of Jonesboro Arkansas, and channels 5 & 13 out of Memphis. Street was my very first favorite wrestler. I soon moved on to the Road Warriors and eventually settled on Bret Hart around the fall of '90. None the less, RIP Adrian Street. Thanks for the outlandish memories.

I'm a 70 year old Brit, listening to this and it's wonderful. The tales of trying to understand British style wrestling and the appreciation of what we had on TV on World of Sports, the role play, the difference of wrestling styles and the character of Adrian Street and how we hated him for his campness but just how he was the 'business' and tried to make his life in the US and so on........ Jim this is a wonderful tribute and I'm sure if Adrian was able to hear this he'd be very, very happy. What comes across to me is your appreciation to Adrian's honesty. I hope you read this. It also shows your appreciation of UK wrestling of the 60's 70's and 80's, not widely understood by professional wrestling fans in the US. Thanks so much Jim. Thank You. PS. He kicked the shit out of the bastard fucker Saville one of the nastiest "personalities" in the UK - not because of the reasons we found out about the shit after he died, but knowing Adrian did it - Yeah!

I was 12 years old and didn't really know what a good wrestler was, but even at that age, I could see how talented he was The gimmick has a lot to do with it too 😆 You could tell he was doing different stuff in the ring from the other guys He was a true LEGEND I hope WWE does something to properly honor his memory Rest In Peace Adrian. I got to talk to him for a good while over the phone and wow, what a nice human being! He taught me about how he started wrestling, how only a few wrestled as long as he had such as Moolah, his days in wrestling in the British wrestling scene, and how he retired and began making costumes, masks, and outfits for the wrestlers since the 90's. Most of what you remember guys wearing were done by Adrian, and he did a fantastic job, too! His theme music was perfect for him! He was only 5'7", but he made up for it with his genuine toughness, strength, and abilities in the ring which were phenomenal! (Just watch his matches with Randy Savage and you will see greatness with two wrestlers - the veteran vs the up and coming future legendary wrestler) I would love to share the stories with you Jim and Brian if you ever like to hear them? I grew up in the 80's with an appreciation of the golden era of wrestling from the 50's onward and he started in 1959! My heart goes out to Linda, he married her and had his real life hero be his best man in their wedding and had found a wig for him to wear similar to how his hair used to be. Just a great man who had such a long road he traveled...so many could learn from his matches alone. He was as real as they came! May you rest in peace, old friend, and thank you for giving me an hour of your time to talk over the phone. An experience I will never forget!

My first memory of Adrian Street I remember him coming into the ring walking on Linda's back like Jim mentioned (don't remember what promotion it was). Never really compared his gimmick to Adrian Adonis as Street's gimmick was more on the androgynous side and IMO far more unique than Adonis's. Another one of the greats is gone. Adrian started out as "Kid Tarzan Jonathan" in the 1950s. From Kid Tarzan to Exotic Adrian. Quite the gimmick evolution. From what I understand, they mainly left Florida and moved back to Wales because, after they lost their wrestling school in one of the really bad hurricanes in the first half of the 2000s, they got more and more uncomfortable with having the threat of getting economically wiped out (or worse) by another one hanging over their heads for six months of every year.

One of my favorite Adrian Street stories was him beating up Jimmy Savile in 1971. Street was supposed to work a match with Jimmy, who later his life would be revealed as a sexual predator. That was around when I first got into watching wrestling, back in Louisville in 82 watching the extremely oddball team of Adrian Street and Jesse Barr managed by Jim Cornette, Barr and Street couldn't have been more different if one of them was black. If you can find any clips where Adrian is talking about beating 7 shades of shite out of Jimmy Savile ... Those are great!

Adrian Street was way ahead of his time. He beat the crap out of some dude who was a real criminal wrestler. Love and light to Adrian!!!

I started watching wrestling 🤼‍♂️ aged 3 on world of sport in England and was captivated by a guy dressed like a glam rock singer . But he was a bad guy and my nanna wanted to kill him . R.I P. Exotic Adrian Street.

I didn't know the part about him and Linda making their own dishes, as in the things the food was eaten on.

I always thought Adrian Street was like a combo of Gorgeous George and Goldust.

One of Adrian Streets Greatest achievements was kicking the shit of the UKs worst pedophile in history, Jimmy Savaile he told a great story how after finding out the age of the young girls Savaile the new wrestler/ nightclub owner was chasing. Punched , stretched, hair pull out . Thankyou Adrian Street ..growing up in the 70s watching world of sport , no one could forget Adrian Street the powerhouse, RIP

No probably to it. Even in his eighties Adrian looked like he could pull a fire hydrant out of the sidewalk.

14:00 Adrian was NOT English, he was a very proud Welshman, please retract that bit. Miss Linda however is an Englishwoman, albeit a Western semi-rural one (i.e. not a snobby Southerner).

I remember one of the wrestling magazines I used to read had a section where they'd ask a variety of wrestling personalities the same question and Adrian Street would always have the funniest, wittiest answers. Often imitated, never duplicated, he will be missed.

A tough SOB. The perfectly disguised gimmick of prancing about one minute then stretching a guy so his big toe is in his ear the next.

They moved back to Wales after their Bonecrushers wrestling school was destroyed in a hurricane. Adrian and Linda basically lost everything except each other in that storm. May Adrian Rest in Peace.
