I was in London a few years ago and stepped off curb wrong and fractured my foot. Went to an a&e. An American citizen no bill.

@@nadiakabbani990 I was actually worried when you brought this up. So I checked. If you are a non citizen and it’s an emergency like a fractured foot they don’t charge. Now if it would have been an extended stay then yes you pay something. Like if the foot required surgery.

It is a shame that she's right about those flights and the hospital bills. But, all they have to do is say you're going to be helping someone else who needs it, and Americans say, "I'll pay extra so I don't help another soul." It's one of the saddest things about our country. 🤦🏾♀️

There are 2 types of cultures in history. Collectivist Culture- where the thing that most benefits the group is done. Eg aboriginal tribes would sit and negotiate until everyone was in agreement even if it took days. All property was shared. This was the key to surviving in groups for 200,000 years. Then comes the INDIVIDUALISTIC Culture - where the thing that most Benefits the individual is done. American culture has been telling Americans that they are number one and that they deserve to have whatever they want for so long that it has been programmed into their mindset. And this is why Americans stand out like a sore thumb online and when they travel overseas - that ego that self focus that Constant self aggrandising which is the opposite to a lot of cultures who value humility

The closest thing we Brits have to experiencing a similar situation to the American healthcare system is when our pets get sick. UK vets charge extortionate prices for everything, I even have to order their medications online because the vets charge nearly double to buy direct from them.

We just brought my 80 year old brother home from England, where he has lived for over 20 years. He has paid for a “concierge” health insurance because it takes weeks and weeks to get anything done for a health problem. I don’t know the cost of this service. I’m sure it’s not cheap, but I arranged, from the US, an appt. for my brother(he has now been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s). The doctor saw him the next morning in his own apartment. That was a shocker. Long story short. We brought him home and had health insurance set up in a couple of weeks. It’s the same as ours. Not a mention of pre-existing conditions. The point is, this woman is funny but incorrect. I just wanted to make that point.

Nothing free is free-and you’re free loading when someone else is paying for you. And when you free load, you erase your worth. And nothing good is free either. America was the last place those with really tragic heath situations could run to when their cut rate, Socialized, “free” healthcare failed them. We did just fine here when healthcare was tied to work and everyone worked for a living-or was the spouse of a worker, or the child of a worker, or a Cobra covered worker temporarily between jobs, or a disabled worker who was then eligible for Social Security Disability. Where it all went wrong was when America allowed the existence and maintenance of a non-working, endlessly reproducing, worthless class of free loaders.
