TWO dislikes...? For THIS song!!??? Bloody idiots!!! Amazing song, fantastic performance, love level 42 and have done for over 35 years. Still do... always will. Since leaving this comment 3 years ago, I've split up from my wife of nearly 25 years. This song now means more than it ever did...

Exactly 33 years ago, the love of my life died in a car accident. I'm now 57, and even though I've rebuilt my life since that fateful day, I can't help thinking of her when I hear that so beautiful, and so sad ballad, because it was played on the radio as I drove to the hospital in the early hours of a sunday morning to see my lost angel one last time.

This song makes me cry every time I hear it. There's one part where the harmonies are just so beautiful and so powerful. Also, the line "... As I walk into the lonely avenue, or afternoon..." stunning but heartbreaking!
@glamdolly302 жыл бұрын
Agreed the lyrics are powerful, written by the late 'Level 42 guitarist and lyricist Boon Gould, who tragically took his life on 30th April 2019 aged 64 after suffering bipolar/depression for many years. His lyrics deserve to be written down: It's Over I won't be here when you come home I'm sorry if you don't understand, forgive me if you can. But I can see another road, And I ain't coming back Don't look for me around this town, 'Cause I will be so far away, you'll never find me anywhere. And I won't take no souvenirs, No perfumed picture promises, Because it's over And I an't coming back. You gave me everything And now I'm breaking your heart. You know that I don't mean, To tear your world apart. I would never leave, If I thought you couldn't stand the pain. A letter in the hall is written on the wall, A letter with no words of love at all. Because it's over (because it's over), And I ain't coming back. And as I close the door, I know I'm breaking your heart. I should have loved you more, Instead I've torn your world apart. And as I walk into the lonely afternoon, I feel sad enough, I feel bad enough. And all the times, when you are lonely where you are, Please don't hate me then, I just could not pretend, oh no. Feel the tears I can feel the tears, Running through the years. Feel, feel the tears, I can feel the tears, Running through the years. Tears, feel the tears, I can feel the tears Running through the years. REPEAT. Written by Mark King, Roland 'Boon' Gould and Wally Badarou.

Mark King's voice is wonderful, but wow. . . I have such love for bass players who play their instrument as an instrument of melody. This song is a perfect example of that. King is definitely a master of melody in every way. Absolutely swoon-worthy sound. Respect! 🙏

Yep, Mark's melody on the bass is amazing, but wat also gets me, is on the faster numbers, not only does he keep melody, but used his bass to also keep faith with the drums, in terms of tempo... STUNNING!!!

Im not sure if this will be intercepted from cyber land . I just had to say it was such a joy to ditch out the back where we were to find the men of Level 42. It was a drizzley day in The Rose city, Portland . I will always remember that moment. Being a noodler on the bass, wanted to feel less incompetent in what was to me was an easy instrument with only 4 Strings,lol ! Mark was so polite and humble. I admire the lot of you very enlightened boys. I was wearing a sriped scarf that I stole , sadly, from Nordstrom's and gave it to mark who said, " well i feel warmer already!. I was tickled! Love you guys. Swoop over to Tucson Arizona if you need a dose of the desert! Peace love and light
