That song is for me one of his best, undoubtedly, 'Heroes' remains one of Bowie's greatest feats. This song tells the story of a German couple who are so determined to be together despite the political climate of the day that was preventing them before 1989 during the sicsion in two patrs of the German country, and, in that desperation, they meet every day under a gun turret on The Berlin Wall you know I mean?
@B0r0
@B0r0 4 ай бұрын
Bowie use to say it was about a German couple BUT. One day, "David Bowie requested Tony Visconti leave him alone in the studio to focus on writing lyrics. As he stared outside the studio window, he witnessed Tony Visconti and singer Antonia Maass kiss in close proximity to the Berlin Wall, which he used as the basis for the lyrics to Heroes. David Bowie initially claimed that the lyric was based on an anonymous young German couple, but Visconti, who was married to Mary Hopkins at the time, contended that Bowie was protecting him and his affair with Maass. Bowie later confirmed the story in 2003, over two decades after Visconti and Hopkin's eventual divorce: "Tony was married at the time, and I could never say who it was. I think possibly the marriage was in the last few months, and it was very touching because I could see that Tony was very much in love with this girl."

When London held the Olympics this song played when TEAM GB came in. It was so emotional to Brits. The perfect music. Bowie was smart, kind and a bit of a gentleman. He married a Somalian model, Iman, and they stayed together for aeons until he passed away. He was REAL. He sang FAME but fame never stopped him from being an interesting, kind person who loved his wife until he passed on. Respect to Bowie. Legendary.

One of the best quotes I saw in regards to him when he passed in 2018 was "whenever you feel low remember, you got to exist in the universe at the same time as David Bowie." Lots of artists are known to reinvent themselves to stay relevant as music changes. Nobody could reinvent themself like Bowie. Not only in his look, but also in his musical diversity. It's still hard to believe he's gone. His music has been a constant throughout my entire life. I've always loved his music and the movies he chose to be in. RIP and thank you for all that great music you left the world.
