To Freddie, she was the ultimate soprano in the opera world. So for her to want him to compose for the two of them was a dream beyond measure. He would even confide to her about his illness during this time. Their friendship and admiration for each other was genuine and true.

Montserrat Caballé (pronounced Mahnt-Ser-AHT Kah-Bah-YAY) was one of the greatest operatic soprano Divas of the latter half of the 20th century, celebrated around the world for her stunning voice. In opera circles, she earned the nickname “La Superba” (the superb one) - she was especially known for the purity and control of her pianissimo (those long, soft sustained high notes that seemed to float forever)

While yes to almost everything, the pronunciation is totally wrong. Her name is in Catalan, not in Spanish. The first vocal is her name is an "O" that sounds like a "U" in "Union", and the last "R" is a strong one like in "rat". Mun-seh-rat. The surname its ended with a strong "E": ka-ba-YE. I'm a Catalan too, that is the best aproximation I can offer.

Montserrat Caballe', an opera Diva, one of the highest regarded sopranos, couldn't believe Freddie Mercury, would sing with her. My take away was each felt unworthy of the other's full approval. But it produced music that respected his & her genre' which was their goal. Freddie Mercury wrote these lyrics with Mike Moran writing the music. Each track on their album are magnificent surprises, especially - "How Can I Go On", The Golden Boy, Guide Me Home, and The Fallen Priest. Thanks for this reaction!

It's a joy to watch you experience new music & really appreciate it. When you open your mind & heart to different kinds of music, it's good for the soul. Check out Freddie & Montserrat performing "The Golden Boy". It starts out operatic & then blends into a Gospel sound. And it tells a story. Sending up a prayer for you, Rico. Most of us know what it's like to try to function from a place of hurt or confusion, at some point in life. It ain't easy but hang in there. Believe it or not, things will be resolved & get better. Hugs & much love from Kentucky. 💙☮💙

This was in the run up to the 92 Barcelona Olympics. Montsy, as she was called, was exploring performing at the upcoming games Bc Barcelona was her hometown. At the same time Freddie & Montsy met & decided to work together. This was Freddie’s love letter to her. Wonderful lyrics. The song was used for the Olympics but sadly Freddie had already passed. They did an entire album together. Composed & written by Freddie & Mike Moran. Great reaction.

It’s only when you open your mind that you realise just how much music you can appreciate, and how that appreciation is often for the things you never listened for before, whether you react to this suggestion or just listen to it yourself try ‘Au Fond Du Temple Sant’ by Brownlee and Liverman on wheaten college artist series the song is the best male duet ever written and these two perform it perfectly.

Queen is my absolute favorite band. They are a genre unto themselves. When you mentioned you're starting to get into musicals I immediately thought of Hamilton. If you haven't heard it, I highly recommend it. It's a hip hop musical (with lots of other genres mixed in) based on the 1st US Treasury Secretary. Start with the opening number "Alexander Hamilton". Be careful though, Disney loves to block so either listen to the album or pause A LOT during the video. It's truly worth the hassle though. I'm not a hip hop fan, but like Queen & Freddie, this is so amazing it will change your whole outlook on what music can be and accomplish.

I love the way this man appreciates what he's hearing so much, and he can articulate it so well. Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe have the most beautiful voices, alone and together. Recklezz' facial expressions are great. I can tell he gets so engrossed in the music. And he's very honest. When he talks about probably not being interested before, I think many of his viewers can relate to tht, But now he can't help but just respond to the music. And that's what it's all about.

This is a link to Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe. She is a well-known and revered Italian opera singer. He was in Spain when he mentioned in an interview how he felt about monsey, her nickname . he had said she was the best voice in Opera he had ever heard . So word got back to Monsy and she contacted Freddy for this collaboration for the song for the 92 Olympics in Barcelona ( usually people do Barcelona first but you can do it in any order. I'm just adding this so that the comment applies to your reaction.) This song is actually about the first time Freddy met Montserrat . They ended up doing a full album titled Barcelona . I recently read in a comment that after her work with Freddy she had been approached by quite a number of Pop/rock singers to collaborate with and she said no that was reserved for Freddy and I won't do it with anybody else . Freddie was a long time fan of Opera. In particular he felt Montserrat had the best singing voice of any opera star. She was from Barcelona. The song had to be completed by 1988 to be considered for the opening ceremonies of the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics. Freddie told her 2 two years prior to his death that he would not be there to sing it with her because he had AIDS. From what I have pieced together she was the first person that he told even though his bandmates were seeing This is the link to their performance of Golden Boy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYHMq6yGad1mZqs This is the link to their performance of how can I go kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaSxoJhujJedisU This is the link to their performance of Barcelona Rob Lundquist and Austin Brown of Home Free just released a video titled. Countryř singers attempt to sing opera. They sing Nessa Dorma. I haven't looked through your discography Home Free is an acapella group so every sound you hear every single note you hear comes from them. If you're not familiar with them I suggest listening to Ring of Fire. It's a Johnny Cash cover. It features Avi Kaplan who was the bas in Pentatonix ( if you don't already react to them you should really consider doing so because you will see your subscriptions go up because the fans of both groups follow where groups go in terms of reactions)

There are two types of soprano techniques. Those who sing with a lot of power and those who have learned the technique from Elisabeth Schwarzkopf to let the voice ring out without pressing. Monserat Caballee belongs to the second category. That's why she was able to sing until old age, because this technique is less strenuous. The best "power singer" was Birgit Nilson. The conductors loved her because she sang so loud that they didn't have to slow down the orchestra. Colleagues who sang with her often had a problem because they couldn't hear themselves because Birgit was drowning out everything.
