Saw this cast in June of 2024 at London West End and was absolutely blown away. The whole experience was transcendent and the performances were heart-wrenching and beautiful. I SOBBED at each unexpected interpretation of a difficult story. Brilliant, timely and painful.

Obsessed with Rhea! There have been certain Sally Bowles who, despite the actor being British, sound like they're putting on a really bad British accent and it badly grates on me but I love the way Rhea performs, manages to do the over the top theatrical top British without sounding annoying

Cabaret opens later this year 2024 at the Playhouse. Songs listed (in the online publicity) does not include "Tomorrow Never Comes" That's the best song in the show. Why would they leave this out? I'm not interested now.

@@millyrowland2504 Hello Milly, You are so right. I had an email from "London Theatre Direct" advertising new shows, and Cabaret was listed. It was a very poor advert and I totally mis-read the advert, as I suspect many would. I appreciate your kind response.

I love the costumes. It’s like the dancers just decided to perform in their pajamas and underwear, symbolizing how vulnerable many groups in Germany were ( Jewish, queers, colored folks, women, etc) during the Nazi craze and the common sexual undertones of the shows in the Kit Kat club

The artists are amazing, but I feel it too much histrionic with too much shout. The decadence and spirit of the show is there, but this version has lost elegance and subtlety.
@Truelib99Hobbes4 ай бұрын
It's grotesque. It reminds me of the Name Game scene in AHS Asylum but with less attractive people.

They were performing in the open air in Trafalgar square. I saw this production a week ago (sadly no Rhea but Nic as the alternate Sally was incredible). Layton was amazing as the Emcee, as was the whole cast.

@Charles-ql4tc4 ай бұрын
Listen he's incredible in this role, but it kind of misses the point of cabaret no? The story is about ignoring the nazi party until it's too late. If the MC is a black man that would just not happen, no? I'm willing to suspend my disbelief in the case that it's actually addressed by the show backstage but as far as I know everyone's acting like it has no impact on the story?? I really don't want to come off as a racist and I don't think it is to say this, but having the MC be a black man makes absolutely no sense in the context of 1930s Germany and the rise to power of hitlwr especially because in the show the MC becomes a victim of that as a shocking instance and if the MC is black it's just something waiting to happen, because camps imprisoned black people way quicker than gay or communist folks.
@rosepetal344 ай бұрын
the emcee in this production is not really a person more a physical manifestation of the Kit Kat club / also twisted later but that gives away plot surfice to say it is not the same as the Alan Cumming version at all, also in terms of the historical context there absolutely were black and mixed race performers in pre war Berlin in the last twenties and early thirties when Cabaret is set / as the station became worse a seedy nightclub like the Kit Kat club would have been one of the few places they could have worked
@t3ddibear5 ай бұрын
litterally my favourite production and one of the best versions of this musicals, but this was awful don't know what accent that was but it certainly wasn't German or French or English...
@littleblackpistolАй бұрын
The Emcee isn't supposed to be German, French, or English, he's mysterious, embodies the spirit of the Kit Kat Club, and could be from anywhere in Europe, or several places, or somewhere else.
