@bigecky Жыл бұрын
@dylansmith97 it's had 2 recalls mate, both for the EGR cooler and the steering rack knock which is common but was fixed under warranty. It's a cheap DIY fix so nothing to worry about if it's out of warranty. Other than that mine has been 100% spot on. Serviced on time every time by bmw then bmw indy specialists. It's been mapped about 3 years now with an uprated intercooler and done a few 1/4 mile runs and B road blasts and its been perfect. As a daily family car there's nothing out there that beats it for performance, comfort and practically for the money. Just find one with the best spec you can, LCI models (2015 onwards) have the better lights.

I love mine for the family needs. 335Dx GT version, which isn't quite as tidy in looks or handling, but hatchback practicality with a huge boot, and longer wheel base improves room in the back for the missus to climb and in and out when we have 3 kids in the car (with 1 in the front). Makes a nice-ish noise when pushed. It picks up well but less so in comfort mode. 35mpg day-to-day and 45mpg on a long run. Mine is loaded nicely including the HUD. It pulls but to get the most of out if you need to catch the revs right. Would love to have mine mapped... maybe one day! The only spec I don't have is adaptive suspension and I would love that. I have swapped out the run-flats, and I think it's quieter and better all-round.

Its the Swiss Army Knife of cars, and is every inch the Q-car that the original M5 was - especially as a Touring. Did an epic (but effortless) 145 at Millbrook in 2021 and often cruise at 120 on the M45 (M1 end) 4-up with full boot. Its a 'mood car' - it very much encourages the cruise in comfort mode - I think also the psychology of 'knowing' you can trounce 95% of cars around you does that. But hitting the sport button - whilst not really necessary - transforms the car and it literally goads you into attacking every opportunity to put load into the tyres and chassis. I also have the adaptive dampers, which are amazing and completely change the nature of the car. Its probably the most important option for me. Very fortunate to find one with it as not many bothered to pay the money - or preferred to spec the big sunroof, which I do wish I had tbh. The only thing I don't like is the gap between wheel and arch, but I live in London where speed bumps are everywhere, so I thought against getting it lowered. Oh and ditch the run flats if you can. will sort out the pot hole thing.

Speed wise, I think for a daily it's more than enough, unless you're on constantly empty roads, dust 90% of cars off the lights and overtaking is easy. Suspension is the only thing that lets this down in the corners a bit, but it does make you want to just woft around everywhere
@mlgboy1 Жыл бұрын
When you are talking about hard hits from the suspoension then its likely that that will be from the run flat tyres. Get rid of them quickly. My 335D runs MSP4's and the difference from run flats is night and day. Run flats are the main reason why there are so many damaged rims on BMW's as there is so much energy from rough road surfaces passed straight to the rims because the run flat side walls are so hard. The soft suspension, if you dont have adaptive suspension, is due to the xe springs fitted which do make the ride a bit floaty from what I hear in the forums. My advice to anyone looking for one of these, if you can find it, is to go for the adaptive. I cant wait to see what you have in store for the car and your future plans.

@@Buck3366There's no denying EV's are quick! They just don't seem to have the drama or character that ICE engines have. I guess that's what makes us petrolheads lol. Love my 4.2L V8, though the planet surely doesn't. Hopefully they get that synthetic fuel off to £2 a litre by 2030 and I'll happily pay for it to keep my German muscle on the road!

@@Buck3366 I've been in a model 3 Dual motor and it's quick up to 60 and 100mph. But it's just quick, not exciting or anything. My only response was "that's quick". Mines nearly as fast but the reaction I usually get is "that's sick, so fast and the noise is immense!" Lol. I wouldn't swap it for an EV, I got mine for £25k at 8 years old and 71k on the clock. Still looks brand new and I got a 444HP V8 AWD estate. A lot of power and practicality for the familynat a bargain price. The only issues are the fuel costs at 25mpg on average and the £625 a year road tax.... So worth it though lol

Have it in sports plus, flick it into manual, hit the brake and floor the accelerator including the kickdown to give you launch control. I’ve had 2 of these now. The coupe I left standard but my touring is about 400bhp with the stage 3 gearbox map. The difference is huge. The 435d would runout steam at 80mph but the 335d gets a second wind at 80 and keeps pulling like a train past 150 ( on a private runway 😬 ) still haven’t had a chance to dragy it. BMW put SE suspension on it which is boatish. I’ve got the Eibach lowing springs on and it’s still not good in the corners. So I’m looking forward to seeing how you sort the suspension and exhaust.

I have a shadow edition 335d x drive 2018 facelift model; I’ve never had a golf R gap me I find it’s more 3L petrol sports cars or 5 pots like the RS3 that gap but there’s not much in it. But from a light 9 times out of 10 you will beat a 140i, m4 etc to 60 in anything other than absolutely none dry weather. They are a fantastic especially to say it’s a diesel. I regularly get 40-50mpg worst I’ve ever had being 34 on a short blast. I think bar a Tesla model S would be hard to find a comparable all rounder. They do have launch control which if used properly is fast than break boosting in my opinion but you have to wait 15 minutes in between uses and it has to be up to temp. You have to put the gearbox in sport (left) and engine in sports + press as hard as possible on the break peddle, then plant your right foot till you see flags on your dashboard with the words launch control active then realise the brake and part time is upon you 🎉😂 I am running pilot sport 4 tyres; I’ve tried potenza’s, and ps4s tyres and have found 4s are the best. Be warned they eat tyres with all that torque

Foot down hard on the break and accelerator all way down beyond the kick down button and it’ll initiate launch. You know the rest 😉 Have fun with that bro. Be careful with the diff though lol 😂
