He glosses over sonny's intelligence and pain Susan and paints him a simple man....sonny played the hand he was delt....I can't imagine being a black man from the south in his day....this song is unreal....but just scratchs the surface of a complex human...a beast who loved children and wished the public accepted him....it makes me cry
@susanp26212 жыл бұрын
@@MACHOMANRANDYSAVAGE2211 I would imagine that a song 7 minutes 45 seconds would only be long enough to speak about some of the things that happened in Sonny Liston's life or the troubles that were part of his legacy. But isn't it a good thing that there is a song about a man who lived the life he had and left behind such a sad story. There are a number of biographies about the life and death of Sonny Liston. Perhaps, if you want a more in-depth exploration of his life you could start there.

Hi, when my daughter was two she would cry because she wanted her daddy, I would tell her he’ll be home soon, she would say no I want my other daddy the black one his name is Sonny. I was confused now I know that She was Sonny Liston illegitimate daughter, Sense little she would get in fights with bullies at school and she even broke a boys nose and she would tell me her daddy taught her to box. I would get mad at my husband because I thought it was him. She tells me of his smile and that Sonny Liston loved children and that once she mimic his face impression and he just burst. Out laughing. She was born knowing more then she should she was even saying my name at 7 months

Perhaps, unfair as it is, there were too many other greats. As for the US, some people don't want it to change, a la Sharpton. Some people should start reading to their kids, in infancy. Head Start and affirmative action have failed. Well-intentioned, but failed. You want something? Go get it.

An absolutely exquisite in memoriam for a true black anti-hero. Dethroned by Cassius Clay, he died in obscurity, his memory defiled by the fight fixers who killed him: "At the foot of his bed with his feet on the floor There was dope in his veins and a pistol on the drawer There was no investigation as such He hated needles but he knew too much" I discovered the song on "One Take Sessions," that includes "Boom, Like That," a riveting first-person confessional from Ray Kroc, the man who made McDonalds a planet-wrecking juggernaut. Mark has a gift for these character sketches, very Dylanesque.
