This project was released shortly after Hurricane Katrina visited my house. My life was in disarray. I was already a huge fan of both MK and Emmylou but wasn’t aware they had collaborated. My daughter Ashley gave me the CD and DVD right when I needed it. I still listen to it every week, and watch it every month. It’s among my most treasured possessions, I felt privileged to own it. Now the world can enjoy it on KZbin.

That’s one of my absolute favorite songs. There have been a lot of great covers of that song as well. The Indigo Girls covered it on one their early albums. I saw them live in June 2023 and the highlight of that show for me was Amy Ray singing Romeo and Juliet on stage by herself with just a guitar and her voice.

I remember driving through a blizzard from Aviemore to get to the Brothers in Arms concert in Edinburgh, late December 1985. We had to stop and put chains on the car tyres. It was so very much worth the effort. I have loved Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler from the Sultans of Swing beginning. And the music is still my daily life listening. It makes me tearful just writing this. Thank you, Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits, for an adulthood of exemplary music.

"Musical masters" indeed (that's the truth!) No matter what I say though...it fails to express how much I love it ;-) And then that one's done, and you wish it wasn't...but then it's on to the next masterpiece, gorgeously played and sung. Yes, a beautiful concert and steeped in American folk/country music - some of the key influences that have shaped Mark's music and guitar playing across half a century. The only things I'm missing here are that they might have included a few tracks from the first two Dire Straits albums, with their jazz/country infuenced playing and soulful solos, songs like "In the Gallery", "Once Upon a Time in the West" (edit: West, not Wurst!) 😄 and "Single-Handed Sailor" would have fit in seamlessly here - and also, I would have loved if Emmylou had been given a newly written verse or two to make her a part of the glowing rendition of "Romeo and Juliet". But those are just minor points (and the early Straits can be seen/heard live in two outstanding German recordings from 1979: the Rockpalast show (live on TV) from Essen and the Cologne live album. Both of them here on KZbin.)🎸

Knopfler always puts together superb bands that play like they were starving to do something more interesting than yet another typical genre gig.

Emmylou Harris is like a fine wine - gets better and better. And Knopfler - one of the all time great rock guitarist. These two go together like wine and cheese.

Emmylou is one of those very few lucky women who get better in every aspect the older they get. Been in love with Emmylou for many years - but don't tell my missus; 3 days ago we passed 45 years married and I might not make it to 46 if she found out -:)

One of my fondest memories of my youth...listening to the Sultans of Swing on 8 track in 1979 on a warm spring day, driving through the Catskills with the top down! Love these two musicians beyond belief and have had the wonderful fortune of seeing both in concert 🙏🏼

I cannot understand why he’s not more popular in the world ….. he beats the Beatles , the stones , Clapton , on and on ….. it’s absolutely perfection in the art of music and expression …. I mean style and cool presence on stage …. The collaboration with so many classical , blues , jazz , country , rock musicians …… Markie is unbelievable 😮😮😮😮

Don’t put down other artists! Comparing Mark to others is small minded and petty! I love Mark and Emmylou as well! He is definitely recognized as one of the best!

My deuce and a half was the "Luxury Liner" in 77, a tribute to Emmylou. Knopfler is a genius. Thanks.
