I honestly think Steve was a good balance not only to Marcy but also with Al. Steve was the well-talored smart but also kinda geeky guy, while Al Bundy was more the rough and tough guy who dressed poorly. Al was also very devious and cunning at times. It is true Steve was smart and kinda good voice reason for Al. Well, Al was more devil advocate for Steve. For example, Steve kinda pushed Al to bring an old library book back. You can tell Al didn't want to do it, but he did it anyway. However, a few episodes before that, Marcy crashed Steve bmw car. Al kinda showed Steve to make Marcy pay by gulit trip her into doing stuff for him. Like cook for food for him serving food in his bed side or senting her multiple times to the store. Having Marcy work. To find out at the end it was all Al Bundy who helped Steve and gave him the idea but have him planned it. Especially the whole Bruce Willias bit. I think it wasn't the same when Steve finally left. This show was still good but wasn't the same.

Steve and Marcy, at least at first, were truly in love, probably the worst thing they did was move next door to the Bundys. With Marcy and Jefferson, they were more in lust than anything else. Jefferson always laughed at Al's jokes behind her back, I never really saw one true ounce of affection for her from him. After Steve left her, I think Marcy just settled for Jefferson. He was a looker, and she hated to be without a man, we all saw how desperate she was when Steve was gone. Jefferson was just looking for someone to leech off of. I have a sneaking feeling if Jefferson ever won the lottery or found a rich, younger, more attractive woman that crossed his path, or both, he would have pulled a Steve and ducked out on Marcy.

@roncerjani90634 ай бұрын
@@BethHarmon-yh8msI know this is just a comedy show, but even if we take this situation in the real life, you still can't blame the Bundys or any third person for the downfall of your marriage. Steve showed signs of being oppressed by his wife and being forced to make choices he doesn't want to make. That would have exploded in the end even if Al hadn't pushed him. Third parties may accelerate a breakup, but the source material for an eventual breakup is already there in the couple

At 11:26 foreshadows Steve's departure from the series when he tells Al Bundy that he quit his job at the pet store and decided to become an "outdoors man" at Yosemete National Park. In real life, the actor David Garrison actually quit the series in the middle of Season 4 to return to his hometown in New York City to work in live theater which was his career before acting on this sitcom. During the first seasons, David Garrison actually commuted to New York City on weekends to visit his family and look at acting gigs on and off Broadway in the event that the TV series he was working on got canceled. When it didn't, he asked the producers to be let out of his contract so he could pursue other projects. I guess he felt that his character of Steve Rhodes had run its course after nearly four years on MWC so which led him to walk out of the series. That is only my personal opinion, but who knows?
@trueshy Жыл бұрын
Actually, he quit to join another sit-com where he was he leaf (that only had a brief run) & then he went crawling back to the theater. I wish they showed some of the pirate ship episode where Steve's singing makes Peggy crazy/sick.

The writers changed the dynamics between Steve and Marcy and Jefferson and Marcy. Marcy is deeply in love with Steve and there had never been an instance in this show that matches this same feeling for Jefferson. She treated him more like a pet, than a husband and Jefferson took that just because he wanted an easy leech life. There was no love between them, just mutual interests between 2 people.
