I feel like a lot of people miss that the monster in this movie isn't THE Godzilla. It's named that by the sole survivor on the Japanese tanker, who naturally thought that it was. The sad irony of this movie is that they tried to use its success to spark an interest in the Japanese Godzilla movies, hence why Godzilla 2000 was shown in the US, but people were confused because it was not the same monster as in the American movie, so the interested died off near-immediately. The pop culture landscape truly was different before the internet. I like this movie, but Godzilla 1998 was truly done justice in the subsequent animated series, which featured the sole surviving baby, named Zilla Jr., who fought other giant monsters.

Komodo dragons are scary! They can swim, run pretty fast when running down prey, they can climb trees when they'r young and not only is their bite lethal but they also have freaking long claws. Fascinating but terrifying animals. Also, Denise, if you want to eat noodles every day- go for it! Noodles are delicious and there are many types so it doesn't have to get boring.

Want to know the scariest (unverified, as far as I can be regarded as a source of information) fact about Komodo dragons? They’re a case of island dwarfism, not island gigantism (fyi these phenomena are large creatures evolving into small ones after getting trapped onto an island, and small creatures evolving into large ones after getting trapped on an island respectively). Which means that for as big as they are, their ancestors are far larger.

They also have venom that keeps the blood from clotting and as much bacteria in their saliva as a septic tank. So if you don't bleed out, the infection you get is going to be horrible. Dragon is a pretty great name for them 😂.
@bloodwolfgaming92693 ай бұрын
It was also revealed recently that the Komodo Dragon has a natural/organic form of iron/metal that grows over their teeth to make them much more sharp/lethal.

They missed a trick making Zilla a mutated iguana instead of a Komodo dragon. That would have actually been cool.

The thing is that those copter pilots tried to use heatseeking missiles on a cold blooded reptile while its raining and most likely very cold, theres no way they could have gotten a lock, that it their fault on this. Those pilots should have been briefed that it was a lizard.

I never understood all the hate this movie got. As a 90s kid, this was...and still is one of my favorite movies from that era. Seeing as that was some 20ish years ago, I cannot fully recall if this was my first experience with the entire Godzilla universe or not. I just remember really liking this movie a lot despite a lot of people hating it. Also, fun fact: there is a cartoon/anime series based off of this movie. In it, Nick ends up finding the last egg as it hatches and gets covered in the egg's fluids. The baby ends up imprinting on Nick and ends seeing him like a surrogate parent. The whole series is about Nick forming a crew to study Godzilla as well as other kaiju like monsters that start showing up around the world. The episodes usually revolve around them trying to stop someone from capturing/killing their Godzilla or trying to find ways to stop the other kaiju monsters.

I don't care what anyone says, I love this movie. It was a staple in my childhood. I don't consider it part of the actual "Godzilla-verse"; this one is actually called Zilla to differentiate. It's still a well-made movie. Edit to say my heart breaks for Zilla every time.

We did not watch the same movie. It's not the fact that he asked her out that made him a creep. It's the fact that he asked her out for "dinner" while being married, she confronted him clearly uncomfortable and he leveraged the potential of her not getting the position she wanted if she did not go out with him in order to convince her. It's crazy we gotta spell it out.

Iguanazilla is entertaining enough, but it will never be the real King Of The Monsters. I also really love Matthew Broderick and Hank Azaria. They've both got iconic characters under their belts. Matthew Broderick: Inspector Gadget, Simba (adult), Ferris Bueller Hank Azaria: Moe & Apu from The Simpsons & Gargamel from the live action Smurfs movies

This movie was honestly a pretty decent 90s monster/kaiju movie in general, just wasn’t Godzilla. Zilla is a perfectly fine movie monster as its own thing, and honestly I got mad affection for Zilla. Reading him in comics, especially when he’s swimming around Monster Island and the other monsters won’t let him on, but the text states that perhaps one day he will be accepted by the others…I feel that gradually Zilla will be accepted more widely as a it’s own being, rather than a poor reflection on the true King. Also side note, I feel that he would actually work much better as a reimagined Gorosaurus rather than Godzilla. Personal opinion.
