This is a reaction channel and a good one, you are suppose to pause to explain and help us hear things we might have missed. Home Frees music is so complicated sometimes we need those things pointed out to us so we can enjoy it even more. In my opinion Home Free is the absolute Best out there. Their arrangements are superb and the talent of all the members is not to be denied. I am in my 70s and have always listened to music, my Mom sang and I remember having a record players and little colored vinyl records when I was very young. In my teens and as the years went on, I remember listening to popular music and wishing all the instruments would just quit so I could here the voices. So about 6 years ago I discovered Home Free and music has changed for me, for the better !!!!!

Another winner by Home Free! These guys don't need any props or theatrics just their beautiful voices to harmonize. Rob & Austin in their tenor voices, Tim & Chance carrying the bass, and then Adam adds the finishing touches with his tasteful beatboxing.

@DRHHUB3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the reaction. Informative and entertaining! I find HF so amazing because with the addition of Chance, they are now basically a quartet (singing voices-not minimizing Adam's greatness) with 2 tenors and 2 bass. That is a really odd combination that just works. I like that the one bass came do lyrics while the other takes the bass percussion with Adam.
@hlbjazz3 жыл бұрын
The double bass of Tim and Chance is why I prefer HF to Pentatonix or any of the other groups on the Sing-Off that had women in them. No offense - I am female - but that bass foundation just rocks every song.
@Husitka3 жыл бұрын
Imo, HF is so phenomenal because they technically have 4 - 5 tenors, 2 baritones, 2 basses and 1 'superbass' at their disposition, and that allows them to play and mix things up a lot (as in Tim or Chance singing the tenor lead while Rob or Austin are singing higher or lower tenor harmonies), or Rob and Austin singing lower than usually just to spice things up. Also, as much as I appreciate the talent of PTX or even Voiceplay, I believe that HF has the best blend of all their voices, and the best individual voices out of all more known a cappella groups, plus amazing and many times very creative arrangements. And their personalities and humour is just a tasty cherry on the top.

Watch Chance's head at the "Doo de doo doos"..Tim and Chance really do trade off seamlessly..and some of those are Chance. Also ...they arrange things in ways nobody would have thought of...but that really do work together. They are good at what THEY do...and they make that apparent in every song they do. Adam Rupp has been singing more high tenor-falsetto...Chance has been taking the Lead more as has Tim and Rob. They're showing off their versatility once again. Their ranges are just phenomenal . Imagine the range of Adam Rupp with all the stuff he does instrumentally with his voice.
@belinda96963 жыл бұрын
Tim has a country voice, they have to add a verse of Tim, Chance, or Austin to make it feel like a country song since no instruments, plus, the high voice swooping into the low verse by Tim, of course, adds an interesting, unexpected shock value too and these guys always keep you interested and entertained at the highest level.

I didn’t know Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was the original artist. Very interesting. I went and listened to it a little. It was good, but I sure do love Home Free’s cover much better! I do agree with you about the A Capella genre. Since the second season of the Sing Off, I have grown to appreciate it so much more, and even more since Home Free was on during season 4. Don’t worry about pausing, though. You are reacting, and there’s so much going on that it would be hard to remember what you want to say. I love your reactions! You catch some things I don’t, and I like that. Did you catch the bass and baritone harmonies at the very end, though? I don’t think Tim and Chance have done that since “How Great Thou Art”. I could be wrong, though. This one was lighter and not as pronounced as “How Great Thou Art”.

What made me subscribe was your pausing and analysis. Although I do enjoy watching reactions with no commentary especially the joy on the listener's face, I even more enjoy the analysis. The reason is that you may pick up on something I didn't notice. Especially when you stop and listen to a part over and over again. I do enjoy listening to songs as a whole, but when you pick it apart, it's fun to go back and listen again and sometimes it's now a new song. So do what you do how you want to do it!

Mortius, please hear me out here... I really really need your reaction to Home Free' latest cover of Dire Straits' "Brothers in Arms". It's so technically complex, I want your reaction and explanations to so many things in that video, like the "so bad" moment - the sentence goes "They did hurt me so bad", it's marvellous how they all switch from harmonizing to voice sing and back to harmony. There are so many refined technicalities that I would love your take on. As a bonus, you're gonna listen to one of, if not the, best performances they made ever!!! It leaves all the other reactors speechless...

I think Home Free also took some inspiration from the cover of this song by the Christian group Selah, which is actually the version I know. I didn't even know Selah was covering the song, I thought they wrote it. But anyways, that octave drop towards the beginning is more similar to how Selah sings it. In their cover, the lead vocalist is a woman and that octave drop fits better in her range and that cover also builds more like how this cover builds. Except for the pedal to the metal chorus at the end, I think that is 100% Home Free. : )
