I had to chuckle about Boyd's comment on Raylan's sense of humor when Raylan talks about tying him to a tree. In a later season, the topic of Raylan's sense of humor comes up again and Raylan actually does handcuff him to a tree afterwards.

Boyd loves having people preconceived with the notion hes a racist hillbilly but then immediately disproves those thoughts when he strategigizes and especially when he shows his intelligence and vocabulary. He has no problem letting strangers look down on him. He relishes in being underestimated. However among his own crew he demands absolutely obedience. Such an interesting character.
