Poignant, heartwarming, touching, hilarious. Emma Thompson deserved the Oscar for her adaptation, she captured Austen perfectly. Sir John and his mother in-law are a huge blast of energy, absolutely hilarious and instantly lovable while the looks round the table as they try to guess what surname begins with F are just wonderful.

They remind me of Amelia and Abigale Gabble, the two geese from the Disney movie The Aristocats. Just that giggly, bubbly energy they have, over absolutely everything, and also trying to suss out who Ms. Elinor's suitor is. .

They are often classified as fools, but i love how good hearted they, especially she is. She is a little too extroverted for the introverted Elinor, but kind and generous.

Hmmmm....I do believe that same team of chestnut horses with the white stockings at the very start of this clip were used by Mr. Darcy in "Pride and Prejudice"! Perhaps Edward and Darcy were good friends and shared the team?

@@Ula-Ka I think it had to do with the poor insulation/heating of the cottage which was a new experience to them given that they lived in a luxurious mansion all their lives.. That's like switching from a well maintained limousine to a truck that has not been regularly maintained.

@@Mixolixplosion I remember Hercule Poirot refused to visit a country mansion at Chrismas until he was assured they happened to have central heating, and that was a century later.

The point is that in the great house they had many servants to keep the fires going all night and were perfectly warm. In this cottage they have no such luxury, and they cannot afford wood or coals for fires at night or all night now.
