I remember when this movie came out. My town had a huge skate contest. My brother was sponsored at the time. Tony Alva came down and watched the competition. And went and watched Lords of Dogtown with my brother and his team. Watching my brother I grew a passion for the z boys. Jay boy Adam's is always going to be my favorite. Rip to a legend!

As someone who was there....Dogtown during the 70s who went to school surfed and skated with the Zboy crew i can say that Jay was the best skater. He also ripped on a surfboard. Alva was a great surfer...Sarlo...uh

I dont know about hate. street skaters didnt like him and didnt really respect vert skaters. When he came out with his own boards and clothing HAWK which i skated it was seen as poser gear.
