1. If you count the original shorts on the Tracy Ullman show, the first releases of The Simpsons on physical media were the original 1989 VHS of Working Girl (US), the original 1989/1990 VHS of Say Anything (US, Australia, and presumably UK), and The War of the Roses (UK and Australian rental copies). These movies (except for Working Girl) involved Gracie Films. 2. If Disney is ever going to release The Simpsons on physical media ever again, it's probably going to be a 4K of The Simpsons Movie and/or a release of a second movie (if that's ever going to happen). Edit: I wish we got more VHS tapes in the US.

@@MrSmith1984 I would to see a complete series Blu-Ray release of How I Met Your Mother to happen for the 20th anniversary next year, hopefully Shout Factory could make a new deal with Disney one day. Season 4 was the only Blu-Ray release of the show they ever did it was due to poor sales, so the rest of the seasons were DVD exclusives. 20th Century Fox also released a few shows of selected seasons on Blu-Ray like: Futurama, Modern Family (the first 4 seasons) and It's Always Sunny (Seasons 6-8 and the Christmas special, Season 9 was gonna be released but it was cancelled). They discontinue releasing their TV shows on Blu-Ray since 2015. I do hope The Bear and Only Murders (2 critically acclaimed shows on Hulu/Disney+) could get physical releases too, would love to see special features and audio commentaries for both shows too. And also Disney mistreated the physical media department for not releasing the recent cult-classic horror film Barbarian (which the director Zach Cregger already recorded the audio commentary), high hopes for Criterion (since they recently released All of Us Strangers and The Shape of Water to the collection).

@JasontheCartoonFan19 күн бұрын
Fun fact: the first five seasons were reprinted in seasons 6-10’s packaging style in 2011, with those versions of seasons 4 and 5 even coming with art prints featuring the extra gags underneath the disc trays of the original releases that otherwise couldn’t be preserved with the box style change. Also, while technically not an official release as it was not sold in stores, Fox printed an English VHS for The Simpsons Movie in 2007, intended exclusively to be shared with U.S. and Canadian retailers interested in picking up DVD and Blu-ray copies of the film (yes, really). This technically makes the movie the final Simpsons production to get a legitimate VHS release. However, don’t try spending thousands of dollars on grabbing a copy unless if you’re an extreme completionist, as there’s nothing on the tape beyond the film itself and Fox’s usual legal information right before it.

I used to get the Simpsons boxsets every year for Christmas and I used to be so excited. Bear in mind I was a British viewer and this was often my first viewing of many of the episodes, having not had access to Sky One at this point and Channel 4 was still only showing the earlier seasons back then. Collected them all up to Season 18. Never got around to getting 19 and now it appears to be as rare as hen's teeth and extortionately overpriced which is a shame. I also had the Around the World, Dark Secrets, and Christmas DVDs, as well as the Heaven and Hell and Treehouse of Horror VHS tapes. I do feel sympathy for my mum as I was probably asking to buy a new VHS or DVD from Woolworths every time we went in, I was pretty obsessed with the show in those days. I still have my DVDs. They have languished in storage for several years but I recently got them back out and am displaying them on my shelf in pride. Those early boxsets were probably some of the best made sets ever. Such effort went into them and they were worth every single penny.

Just a quick note. The Simpsons Movie had a limited release that was the standard region 2 UK DVD with the inclusion of a small Homer plush. From what I remember, they were available from Tesco (at least that's where my dad bought our copy from), and it still sits proudly on my shelf to this day! Not sure which other Fox movies included it, but the DVD release of X-Men : The Last Stand included a storyboard animatic of a scene from the Simpsons movie (which also had alternate/extended dialogue). The scene was in Alaska with Homer whipping the dogs. I can't remember where, but I feel like I saw a storyboard to the scene where Marge begs Homer to dispose of the pig crap properly. The annoying thing is, those deleted scenes on the DVD only seem to be a small portion of what was cut. There's so many bits in the trailers that were must have been cut for time/pacing or even possibly story reasons. Apologies for the long post! EDIT: There's a UK VHS release of season 3. There's a copy on eBay for £10. Strangely enough, the packaging is very similar to its DVD counterpart.
