Wow, what a final. This is the final I wanted and let’s be honest, we all wanted this final especially after MVG comments yesterday, it made it even more interesting and appropriate that we get this final. I said last week I want to see Luke play an in form MVG coz that will produce the best darts and after seeing the quarter final lineup today I was looking forward to these two meeting in the final. Bunting almost knocked out MVG but that comeback was astonishing from Michael and it showed MVG has another gear. But if there was any doubt who is the best player in the world, that argument has been put to bed coz Luke Humphries is the best player in the world heading into the World Championships. He should be tagged the favourite and I think he will do it. There’s many things that can happen but the way he just keeps winning even when not playing his best, it shows that he can grind out the wins as well as produce amazing displays like he has been doing recently. MVG was fully up for it and was playing really well and that 9 darter was superb and got me off my seat. I knew we were in for a thriller and I just wanted a close match. When MVG broke to go 7-4 up I feared the worst but what a marvellous comeback from Humphries, who reeled off 6 legs in a row to take the title. When he went into the break 6-9 down I said Luke has to win the next leg coz u can’t have MVG on 10 and being one away coz he will surely win from there but MVG couldn’t hit the trebles with the same consistency as he was before the break and Humphries took full advantage and came back to 10-9 and then it was looking like surely going to a last leg decider which would have been the best scenario possible but MVG couldn’t hit the double to force the final leg and Luke got it done on the Mad House. What a tournament and what a couple of months Cool Hand is having. 3 majors within 2 months. Absolutely amazing. For me he’s the man to beat at the Worlds and on current form I think he’ll take it.

Well, if mvg plays like he did in the beginning of the match and keeps that up the whole match he always wins. He somehow lost it at the end and played bad. He gave it to Luke rather than Luke forcing it.

I commented a few weeks ago on another channel about the fans ....... I have Never been to a darts tournament but thanks to social media I can still.follow the games ..I love the fans at the tournaments . I see great banter and behaviour .. When a 9 darter goes in , the roof goes off regardless of who the crowd are supporting.. Long may it continue ..no bother ,,,just a cracking time by everyone.

What a final! What a comeback! Now Luke’s won majors in different ways. The Grand Prix and Grand Slam he dominated mostly. This? He had to come from behind and he stunned MVG the 9 dart hero. I knew Luke would win big titles.. Luke & Smith have the most relaxed natural throws, its no surprise they are the top 2 players.. The trick for Luke now is to maintain it which is hard to do.. Smith does tend to let the nerves set in but Luke has developed nerves of steel.. We all knew he had the potential, good for him, he clearly puts in the hard work..

Michael Smith is a player I always get excited about, but knowing his inconsistent form, I honestly don't even tip him to win his first game! That being said, his throw and power scoring is amazing to watch.

Honestly. A good dart player is not just someone who can throw good darts, its someone who can throw good darts even under pressure. And also someone who knows how to zero-rise and find his/her lost groove and form back during the game itself. VGW throws good darts, but only when he is in a good position. Which explains why he easily loses to players who are not even his level. Once he loses his rhythm and form, he cannot find it back. Same for Michael Smith. Luke is someone to look forward to during upcoming tournaments. Due to his ability to stay cool and adjust accordingly. No such thing as a bad day - shouldn't be an excuse for any player tbh.
