Been a DRW fan for 65 years now, through thick and thin. This year's crop doesn't inspire as much confidence as last, mostly because the #1 offensive and defensive horses are under long term contracts and have to self-motivated to earn it. Kane has got that pride and drive to sacrifice despite his pain and accomplishment. Seider, Raymond and Larks MUST take a step up to drive the team to playoffs.

People are way too harsh on Yzerman and the whole rebuild, we we're pretty bad (bottom of the league) not so long ago if you could believe it and Yzerman most likely had to overpay a little bit for guys like Copp/Compher who probably had other offers considering they were playing good before coming to Detroit (when Detroit was at the bottom of the league it would have cost a lot more to get Kane/Tarasenko at this part of their careers of still being good players). So Yzerman paid extra but at least they have achieved his goal of at least being a competitive team as of late, all of these bad contracts will be gone while we are in our big cup window with guys like Larkin/Seider/Raymond and still continuing to have one of the best prospect pools in the league and still have young guys that are still coming in/future red wings. Yes Kasper showed a lot of good things but after all it is still pre season and yes he is good but still only 1 year in the AHL so when you think about Berggren he has been sent back and forth for 3 years trying to get his shot so it is pretty hard to just get rid of him for Marco. We have rookies starting this year and likely more once the season gets going. People need to realize we likely will even miss playoffs unless things just really go the right way for Detroit but as Yzerman shapes the roster more with our future players it is still gonna take 1-2 more years for guys like ASP/MBN/Mazur/Lombardi to start having room on the roster so deal with it and give the Yzerman GOAT his time he needs to shape the team. Oh and we also got screwed on the draft multiple years while Yzerman has been GM and haven't had a top 3 pick in 34 years (and Yzerman has also had to shred terrible contracts like Justin Abdelkader and many more that give me PTSD) Let. Him. Cook.

Why did Kane's highlight video by awood get twice as many views as Raymond's, 3 times as many as Seider's, 5 or 6x time as many as Larkin's? Why did Kane's re-signing post on instagram get almost 10k more likes than Seider's re-signing post, and 20k more likes than Raymond's? Why did Torkelson and the other Detroit Tiger both wear Kane jerseys to the game last opening day? Why is Kane's jersey way outselling the other 3 guys' jerseys? Why do Kane posts on instagram by the NHL account get 2-5x as many likes as posts about any other player in the league save Crosby and Ovi?

They will come in time. Ras is a great body in front of the net who has progressed year over year. Fisher played a lot of good minutes for us too, but he is replaceable. Need that grind line and in due time, maybe by the end of the year even, our young guys will be in the lineup. Gotta trust the Yzerplan! He’s building a dynasty!

He got a total of 10 games out of 50 on the first line despite leading the team in 5v5 goals per 60, points per 60, game winning goals, and his line w Cat and Larkin being by far the most effective top line the team had all season. As for top power play he didn't 'get handed' anything. He's one of the best offensive players in the history of hockey. He's been earning it every year for almost 20 years now. You seem quite confused and ignorant if you think he should not have started on Detroit's top power play unit but should have somehow 'worked his way up'. He's Patrick Kane. The only thing in question was his skating. Once they tested and found out he could still skate, he's a Mazerati. Similarly, if they acquired McDavid or Mackinnon or Kucherov or Crosby, those guys would also start on the top power play unit, no questions asked. They have earned it. There is a whole league going on outside of Detroit, where one can earn things and prove things and establish oneself. Kane EARNED the top line w Larkin and Cat last year. And did not get it. He EARNED the top line w them this year. And is not getting it. He certainly earned at least DeBrincat on his line. He is not getting him. Raymond is getting all that despite not earning it compared to Kane.
