People in the comments talk a lot of shit about Larkin being a bad leader. yet in interviews like this he doesn’t hide behind stats like lalonde. He speaks frankly about this team and where we are at while he concisely lists what issues we have on PK and how we can improve that going forward. Is he screaming at his guys in the locker room like Mcdavid? Probably not. But what scale of leadership are people using to measure when they say Larkin is a bad leader? He has stood unwavering and never even questioned leaving through some of the red wings worst years in history, only to watch half of his team disappear every offseason. Yet through all of it still managed to improve every single year. He is finally starting to have young and talented teammates around him that are from our prospect system and are here to stay. Just listen to the interview at the beginning of this season with Seider, Ray and other wings where they talked about how much Larkin means to the team and how bad they want to win a cup for him. He inspired the team around him, Evan an all star like Patrick Kane has nothing but praise for Larkins talent and leadership.

do you really believe this, or do you think it because ken daniels told you to think it? the truth is the team was tanking before he went out last year. then he left the team high and dry with a "injury" which no one could explain. he left right after a scrum with the panthers where he apparently got scared off. if you're a true fan you have noticed he's done this every single season for about 6 straight years. he gets tired toward the end and wants time off - this is well documented in articles right before his departures. some "leader" to leave his team when it matters most. stevie lidstrom or hank would have never done that

Thank you sir for the first logical take I've seen in these comments over the last 3 weeks.

@@azizshavershian2065 so because he gets injured atleast once a season he’s not a good leader? Landeskog, Mathew’s, stone, Barkov, foligno……. None of those captains have played a full season in 3 years. Are they all abandoning their team, or are injuries a big part of contact sports like hockey? You take a guess.

Dude puts his body on the line to make plays more than anybody on this team. Look at the play he made to Raymond vs the Islanders. He knew who was going to get crunched and he still went into the corner and made the play to Raymond for the the game winner. Patrick Kane isn't going to do that. Your captain is@@azizshavershian2065

@@azizshavershian2065 The team was not tanking before he went out last year, either time. They had just had a couple losses in a row the 2nd time, including yes that bad one vs Florida. But that isn't tanking.

How has nobody asked him about his job status? or if hes talked to Steve about his job? This is a layup question every other city asked a red seat HC.

Larkin was terrible against NJ. Just totally disengaged and a Turnover machine with the puck. I’m so happy game in and game out we get Petry and Chariot together, what a wonderful pairing that is! Awesome seeing them on the leagues worst penalty kill and nothing changes. Good coaching LOLonde, and great challenge too. Talbot was way outside of the crease. Speaking of the PK sucks. Rasmussen plays like he’s Mottes size, glad they gave him a 4 year extension, seeing how Detroit already has Six 4th liners. 3 out of 4 PPG’s for devils yesterday.

go check the analytics on that game, everyone was horrific

People in the comments blaming Larkin. Larkin doesn't write the lineups. Larkin doesn't ask to have Lucas Raymond stuck on the 1st line w him every game even tho they can't play together at all, rather than Kane and Cat w whom he has had great success. That is Derek Lalonde doing that. This year Larkin at 5v5 is +2 with Kane, -4 w Raymond. Over the past 2 years Larkin at 5v5 is +9 w Kane, 0 +/- w Raymond. And that in under 1/3 the ice time. It extrapolates out to +28 or +29 w Kane in the same amount of ice time. That is Derek Lalonde.

I am not impressed at all with this group or coaching staff. That penalty kill is a slap in the face to anyone who has ever put on a pair of ice skates. The 2024 Detroit Red Wings look not only bad in their losses but bad in their wins. Leave Grand Rapids alone for the remainder of the season and get rid of some of these free agents at the end of this season, so you have room to bring players up next season. Fire Lalonde after this season and the PK coach.

Why fire the coach after the season? Why not change coaches now? Giving up on this season in year 6 of the "Yzerplan"? That's success?

Someone has to get fired for having the worst PK in the league.
@jz745916 сағат бұрын
I love this team, but I'm afraid they are on the brink of a free fall.
@spencerdobkin94799 сағат бұрын
That's the only way Lalonde could get fired at this point.

Dylan.. your lack of leadership is the reason why players are going to be traded, and the coach being Fired. You Ruined Christmas! 😂
