2 months late to the party. Went through a really rough year during 2020-2021. My favourite science teacher referenced this speech saying 'its not about how hard you hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward' mainly that conversation that day, and some many after that saved my life. So kinda saved mine

That’s the hope he offered to his son, because he knew his true capacity and ability. Rocky didn’t just confront, dictate, critic, point out or expose faults & embarrass him. He wanted him to realise that in the end their was a way out to that negative, defeatist & cowardly mindset. He gave him timely advice with that comment “Be responsible, accountable & accepting of choices, don’t blame others or seek to blame anyone. Own it and learn from the experience, so when your facing the same challenge, circumstances or adversity, your prepared to face it head on. Learning can only be attained by experience, advice & accumulate adaptive skills. Remember it’s going to be hard, tough and even difficult but don’t have the mindset “I wish, I overcame my difficulties or I had confidence”. Because in the end what happens in time past cannot be regained, cannot be changed or even cannot be relived to gain a different outcome. The person needs to have the belief in one skill coupled with the courage in abilities learned to trust in them to achieve a desired result. As Teddy Atlas “Do not allow pressure to distort time.” You’ll be able to overcome it in a moment or brief period. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about realising and accepting your weaknesses and how to utilise your strengths in a strategic & methodic fashion.

There will always be people who see themselves as victims and blame others for their problems; and then there are people like Rocky, who take their own lives into their own hands, and fight. The latter are the winners, no matter whether they succeed or not, because they defeated the hardest opponent - themselves.

Nov 15th 2024... I've now *LOST ALL RESPECT* for sylvester stallone endorsing a *FELON & R@PIST!! Words are cheap and meaningless in the REAL World* 🌎🌍🌏; unless you have 💵🫰!!! This scene speaks *VOLUMES* regarding stallones *TRUE SELF!!!* *"Don't forget to visit your mother..."* Oh yeah, didn't ivanka, dump jr and eric bury their mom in the back, overgrown, unseen portion of a Golf course ⛳, so that dump could *"CLAIM"* that bedminster is now a *"Cemetery"* 🪦 and doesn't have to pay anymore taxes!!! 2:39 “Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!” ~ Rocky

My dad died when I was 16. He had been sick for several years with various health problems. He was also an alcoholic. But I have my dad to thank for several things. He was born in Europe and came to America in his 30s, so he gave me life in America where people like Rocky can work hard and keep moving forward. My dad was also a very hard worker. You don't get anywhere without working and my dad did rough physical labor to support his family. My dad was far from perfect and he had many demons in his life. He never really was a father to me due to his illnesses. But I thank my dad for all the things he did do for me. Rocky and other father figures helped me where my dad wasn't able to help me.

The moment when Rocky became wise beyond his years. Everything Rock has went through all the years has finally came to this particular moment of given some wise advice to his son. He's talking about how to overcome the odds when the whole world is against you. If anyone who knows what its like when life beats you down. Its him!!!! Hes been through the gutter time and time again but never let failure overwhelm him or give up hope. He's always endured through faith in God and the love of his family/friends. This May be Rocky defining moment of character development throughout the series.

The entire scene is too good..But when he says ""cowards do that, and that ain't you! You're better than that!" , it just speaks about a Father's Love for his Son. The way he is urging his son to stand on his feet is just phenomenal..This line brings tears in my eyes every time when I watch this scene.

I've suffered so much in life from the moment losing a parent who never really cared to begin with them to suffer from bpd and psychotic hallucinations living with a permanent bully putting me down and reminded me off all I lose and the things I don't have to live and be there for a son to have him ripped from my life in an instant to raising a 2nd child almost single handely for the last 3 years to be left with no family's or friends justify trauma of the last decade and the daughter who keeps me going this speech speaks to me.

I grew up watching Rocky, and when this film came out, I was an adult. I never, ever, forgot this scene because when I had kids... this was my credo to be there for them. Tough love and it is not about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. Forever. Thanks, Rock, thanks for showing me how to fight.

For most of the speech its Rocky talking to his son, but 3:03 the camera gets closer to rocky to where only he is in the frame. Its as though at this point in the speech, Rocky starts talking to us DIRECTLY, and we the audience have been put into the eyes of Rocky's son hearing his words. Because at the end of the day, these are words everyone needs to hear at some point. Amazing cenimatography to match this incredible speech

I've been a fan of Rocky since #1 came out in theatres. Rocky has never been about fighting. The 1st 3 were a love story. Since then, they've been a life story. That's what this old Rocky fan sees anyway.

I love Rocky IV. Russia/Drago! Training hand made differently, in the cold, he does it with heart, determination! But eventually, Adrian shows up. And they motivates Rocky to keep going, for himself, family, and Apollo! Rocky V is classic, street fight, helps his son stand up for himself, and money/cars/houses = materialist things vs. family, heart, determination to do something. Even Creed 1-3 are valuable lessons for the younger generation under 40 years of age. Come from something and turn into something bigger! Earn it, fight for it, don’t stop!

Love this scene, & its amazing & inspirational speech. Very awesomely motivational. It also induces these vivid & powerful flashbacks of a long ago time when my father was imparting his built up experience & wisdom, offering me advice, insights & these sage perspectives that, upon reflection, made total sense, & came straight from the heart. Wish I listened to him more (there was a lot of Rocky Balboa in him, huge hearted, patient & gentle as he was, yet also very wise to the ways of the world). If I could ever offer any genuine tribute to honor him hopefully these comments of heartfelt appreciation do just that. He was a Great Guy at heart, as my father is very missed.
