Same I’m first generation Brit, my mum a Scot working class poverty moved to England met my dad immigrant from Grenada in the early 60s (he still has all his boxes of Trojan records) me and my brother and 2 sisters were born 60s,70s to early 80s and we had this amazing fusion . In our council estate where our parents lived bought their houses you could say it was the closer to Eden you could get . Not hate , everyone was just best mates you’d have my dad and kevign dad up croft bickering about the horse races because it was their one day blasting two sets of lps and discussing how to make us croft kids make shift go cart better. We were just hard working poor folks , any animosity was against the elites and their policies ruining us . They hated us getting on and forming communities like the saying goes it takes a village.. Damn I was blessed to be part of it and being mixed race and proud to be British but first and foremost Yorkshire . I never forget my blessing of all those amazing fireworks being brought together to make us yano. I pray the next generations have that zeitgeist again, coming together and making magic. There’s still hope.
